Communications Consultant

Our client, a large healthcare company, is looking for contract Communications support. One of their largest teams is in the process of redefining itself and they are looking for this writer to work with them. They are working on a strategic messaging exercise across a variety of strategies, programs, services and initiatives to align with the vision and strategic direction of their team. The situation right now is that there are many communication pieces that they are working on, but these projects are not aligned strategically to the new vision and strategic direction (which is being finalized across leadership early April). It also is very factual/information (what/how) vs. talking about the value (why) and written in business speak vs. clear, simple and engaging manner. The content matter ranges from the business strategy to clinical and reimbursement models to collaborative partnerships with doctors to claims systems.

The deliverables for this exercise will be primarily strategic in nature – able to be leveraged or incorporated downstream into various communications to various audiences – but all stemming from the same core assets: Key Message document and Presentation slides/materials.

The consultant would work closely with the hiring manager and her team, as well as business owners/subject matter experts to gather and organize the content but would be primarily responsible for developing the structure and messaging itself based on the communication objectives and content matter itself. The person will also have some editing responsibilities as downstream communications are created.

They are expecting that the work would be part-time, but could vary (20-30 hours/week). Timing for start would be immediate, and work is projected to the beginning of the summer, at which time they would need to re-evaluate workload going forward.

Keys to this role: *Delivering clear, concise and prioritized business communications to the team and leadership via the proper communication channels

*Interviewing internal and external subject matter experts to develop copy for internal and external communications

*Working closely with internal communications team and other writers

*Researching and writing content for presentations to internal and external stakeholders

*Reviewing communication content to ensure it follows brand specifications and standards, and working to revise communications as needed

*Structuring communications to simplify complex issues into easily understandable concepts and identifying appropriate messaging for various audiences

*Following through in a timely manner to both internal and external customers, and using appropriate assertiveness to balance needs of business with the ability to execute

*Partnering with the other Communications teams to deliver relevant communications

*Engaging Legal, Creative, Marketing, and other support functions as needed to deliver comprehensive communications and work on special projects
