Communication Strategist

Vitamin T client is an agency within the denomination of a religious church responsible for ensuring racial equity, diversity and cultural competency at every level of the church. Position Overview

Reporting directly to the General Secretary, the Communications Strategist will work in partnership with our organization's leadership to develop and implement a strategic communications plan for the organization. This person will work in partnership with staff, board members, volunteers and members of our church throughout the country to carry out our mission through focused communications efforts, including social media partnerships, blog writing, trainings, materials development and dissemination, webinars, and traditional media work.


-Provides strategic communications analysis to develop multi-year communications planning, including developing communications goals, establishing priorities, messaging and determining success measurements.
-Provides strategic counsel and evaluation throughout the life of the plan.
-Supervises a writer and social media specialist in the performance of the Strategic
-Works with leadership to develop strategic communications plans for new initiatives as they arise, ensuring those priorities.
-Effectively measures and reports on success of outreach efforts, working with leadership and colleagues within our division.
-Ensures all new and traditional communications work by staff throughout our group is aligned with and actively advances the priorities of the organization over the short and long-term.
-Works with our leadership on an ongoing basis to think through current challenges and offer advice and counsel on critical issues of concern.
-Remains current with new and emerging strategies, technologies, and tools that can improve the strategic communications efforts of our group.
-Oversees preparation of blog posts, social media content, branding and presentations related to strategic communications activities for our leadership and board of directors.
-Works with colleagues within the church to develop joint communications efforts.


A minimum of 7 years of increasingly responsible communications experience in the for-profit or non-profit sector
.Demonstrated advocacy/campaign communication and strategic communication planning skills
.Must be experienced at working with senior-level executives to provide counsel, guidance and direction on communications initiatives and programs
.Must have a broad vision while being detail oriented and comfortable assuming high accountability for all areas of responsibility
.Strong collaborative spirit and leadership ability
.Excellent writing skills
.Ability to think strategically and work as part of a team
.Able to set short- and long-term planning goals in line with larger organizational priorities
.Able to develop and move projects forward with independence and autonomy
.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and manage productive relationships with colleagues and organization allies
