Communication Specialist

Our client in Houston is looking for a Communications Specialist to join their team. The position is 80% Project Coordination and 20% Writing.

You will be responsible for supporting marketing related communications needs of designated business groups and departments. Engages in the development and execution of communications materials. May include product or service advertising and writing, editing, web publishing, public relations for advertising projects. Coordinates a variety of specialized marketing and communication responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
• Coordinate the development and production of marketing projects and collateral materials.
• Write and edit internal and external communications, for a specified property or project, such as brochures, websites, direct mail and advertising.
• Work directly with the marketing team on PR & Advertising projects such as; print & web media, interactive media and video.
• Ability to multi task and project manage multiple projects at one time.
• Coordinate advertising projects with outside vendors.
• Ability to enter data into project database and maintain project data on a daily basis.
• Ability to interface and communicate with all levels of management and clients.
• Ability to create and assemble project estimates.

Other duties may be assigned.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinates and assigns tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project, but is not responsible for formal supervision of employees.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university in Marketing, preferably with focus on Communications, or Journalism, and a minimum of two to four years of related experience and/or training.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
None.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret various types of business documents. Possess excellent writing skills for advertising, marketing collateral, public relations, sales letters and direct mail. Aptitude to effectively respond to complex inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, supervisor, and/or management. May be required to present information to an internal department as well as groups of employees.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE
Requires intermediate knowledge of financial terms and principles.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES
Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat. An understanding of Adobe Creative Suite v5 or higher and knowledge of social media, are not a requirements, but would be beneficial.
