Communication Specialist | Part-Time

Our client, a leader in the financial services industry, is looking for a Communications Specialist on an 8+ month part-time/contract basis (24 hours/week).

The Communications Specialist will lead the development and implementation of integrated communication strategies in support of our client’s Distribution Growth & Development strategic priorities (Early Productivity, College Marketing, Recruiting, Practice Management and Field Training).

• The communication strategies encompass field and home office communications through print and electronic media solutions that inform, educate and influence target audiences.
• Works in collaboration with business partners across various divisions to provide communications counsel, planning and execution.
• Advises subject matter experts on field-focused messaging and communications objectives, channels, delivery and format.
• Performs research, evaluation and measurement of communications.
• Collaborates with communications teams across the company on large-scale initiatives to ensure communications strategy aligns with department objectives and other work efforts. Ensures adherence to Company branding standards and style guides.
• Serves as liaison to corporate communications, and participates in cross-functional committees related to communications.
• In partnership with the team lead, works to develop top communications priorities on an annual basis to focus time and deliverables accordingly.
• Creates and may assist with executing communications plans for events, programs and projects; reviews field communications as appropriate. Involves working with multiple teams and departments who are supplying content.
• Provides direction to the communications college student and delegates/edits assignments such as writing LINKnet News stories, developing content for presentations, etc.
• Develops recommendations for architecture structure and content on LINKnet sites for the department based on LINKnet standards and guidelines.
• Participates in projects and cross-functional committees (e.g. Columns Advisory Council) where communications are critical factors in the success of the project. Provides consultation to project teams on effective communication methods.
• Identifies metrics for measuring communications impact.
• Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in mass communications, journalism, public relations or related field that requires a demonstrated proficiency in written communications.
• Minimum of five years of experience in professional corporate communications, public relations, journalism or related communication field with a proven portfolio of business writing and media management experience.
• Ability to quickly grasp and communicate complex information.
• Demonstrated superior written and verbal communication skills with ability to build rapport negotiate with and gain acceptance at all levels.
• Demonstrated experience with communication planning and objective setting, including skill and ability in managing projects and multiple deadlines; synthesizing and relating complex information; counseling clients; creating detailed communication plans based on analysis of communication problem/opportunities.
• Possess superior organizational; problem-solving; and planning, writing and editing skills.
• Ability to work across lines to achieve objectives; working closely with clients at all levels of the company, including upper management.
• Demonstrated flexibility and agility while working in a changing environment.
• Requires knowledge of: theories of mass communication; best practices in organizational communication; theories of persuasion; media channel effectiveness; print, audio, video, and web-based production methods.
• Knowledge of the financial services industry.
