Color Analyst (2871438)

0 people like this description

Primary job responsibility (approx 80-90%) will be analyzing and commenting on approval submissions of bulk dye lots and print strike offs under a light box so it’s critical that the contractor have experience with commercial color matches of textiles, and be able to give technical feedback on the analysis as this can take months to train. Someone with prior apparel brand experience doing this would be ideal.

All of what is listed further below are essential components in making acceptable commercial color matches, but here are the top 3:

1. Color Vision is a key skill in being able to analyze and comment appropriately as we need them to be able to visually identify the variations of bulk dye lots & strike offs compared to our standards. The two tests below identify someone with the appropriate level of color vision – we can perform both tests here, approximate time is a little less than 1 hr. Applicants should be prepared to take the test, and these should not be new to anyone with previous color analyst experience.
a. A “pass” score on the Pseudoisochromatic Plates Test. This is a pass/fail test for colorblindness
b. High Superior score on Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue Test (this is a test to see if subject can determine color differences – not a test for small color differences – and is not a color blindness test)
2. Spectrophotometer: - this is the primary tool we use in measuring color data so it’s key that they understand how to use one and read the results – this is pretty standard for anyone with color analyst experience.
3. Understanding and proper usage of AATCC Evaluation Procedure # 9 – Visual Assessment of Color Difference of Textiles

Q. What would the typical work day look like for this contractor (what are they responsible for)?
A. Would depend on volume of pending approval submissions. They could spend their whole day analyzing submits under the light box, and then sharing comments on those submits with business partners. If there is a day with fewer pending submissions they would work on maintaining the color library or any other special projects the teams has – like board building, etc.
