Client Service Director (Government)

Vitamin T client (marketing/PR agency) is looking for a Client Service Director with Government experience to join our team! The CSD is responsible for managing the current government client base while actively identifying new business opportunities. This individual must draw upon a high level of industry knowledge to identify key areas for growing business, and work closely with the Marketing team to oversee the execution of all program elements.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a successful history of business development in the government sector. The candidate also has a strong knowledge of government contracting and proposal writing.

New Business Development & Client Relationships
Develops new business proposals and presentations in partnership with senior leadership that leads to client retention. Identifies new opportunities with current clients.
Builds financially sound campaign budgets in partnership with operations team to ensure financial profitability while maintaining pricing competitiveness.
Facilitates teaming with prime contractors toward the development of proposals to win new business
Oversees and manages members of the Client Service team to ensure quality program execution.
Ensures internal departments are constantly mindful of clients’ business objectives and success metrics.

Builds and maintains superior relationships with government clients to facilitate the development of new business proposals.
Sets the strategic tone, direction, and supervision of existing accounts. This includes overseeing client needs, staffing, strategy, quality of work, and budgeting.
Maintains on-going relationship with clients after the initial “sell-in” phase.

Collaborates with Creative Service team and operations team to ensure that event goals, budgeting, and scheduling parameters are adhered to as outlined in the RFP.

Represents client in all program-planning sessions.



Financial Management
Oversees the creation and management of the campaign budget, profitability margin, field staff labor expenses and hours spent to fulfill the scope of work.
Effectively communicates with internal and external team members on the financial status and management of the program.
Acts as an efficient steward of government funds and works to achieve cost savings while still meeting client needs and the scope of the work.


Personnel Management
Provides coaching, mentoring and development to Client Service team members
Oversees performance reviews, goal setting, professional education, and team motivation.
Delegates client assignments to appropriate team member.

Works with internal resources to create training materials and to execute Field training programs.
Provides consistent coordination, leadership, and communication to internal team to ensure maximum performance.


Upholds, adheres to and shapes client’s guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Contributes to a positive work environment in leading by example.
Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the industry of experiential marketing, advertising and PR.


Required Experience/Skills:

Experience: 10+ years of relevant business development experience pertaining to government contracts in addition to marketing and project management experience
Bachelor's Degree: Business/Marketing or related
Masters in Business Administration preferred
Active Security Clearance preferred
PMP certification preferred
Knowledge of FAR and government protocol
Experience managing profitable budgets, meeting deadlines, and managing teams of 5+ members
Excellent writing, copy/editing skills and general communication skills. Includes ability to write strategically sound client proposals and present proposals in a creative manner
In-depth knowledge of the event/promotions industry
High level of detail-orientation, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
