Channel Manager - Social Media Content & PR 12 Month Contract

Role: Channel Manager - Social Media content & PR
Location – Reading
Contract – 12 month contract - £46-50K
Start – July

Role Purpose
This role identifies and leverages evidence of the client’s broad impact in the UK, ensuring that it gets the credit they are due for the considerable work they do with young people, communities and cities. The role will identify their great 'Real Impact' stories from across the whole of the business, leveraging them with sales teams, internal comms, broad external comms (website, newsletters, etc).

Team/Department Mission
To ensure that the client is recognised as a responsible corporate citizen within their sector and amongst their corporate peers, and that they have strong relationships and high levels of trust amongst politicians and policy makers.

Key Accountabilities
- Working with teams across the business to identify strong stories and case studies which demonstrate the client’s impact within the UK.
- Write and shape blogs, speeches, content for case studies and prepare materials for use by media team, internal comms team, government affairs team and sales teams.
- Manage the communications plan leveraging the client’s impact in the UK.
- Support the plan for driving the business's relevance to society and government ('National Plan'), managing the rhythm of meetings, assembling materials for quarterly board meetings and ensuring execution against plan.
- Support the Corporate Affairs Director, the Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs, the UK General Manager and his leadership team in their roles as spokespeople for the company in this area.
- Managing queries as necessary from internal and external sources.
- Representing the Government Affairs function at internal meetings within the Corporate Affairs team and with other Legal and Corporate Affairs colleagues worldwide.

- Ability to assimilate complex information quickly and distil into simple terms

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
1. Essential Experience
- The successful candidate should already have five to eight years of experience in communications, as a PRO, a journalist, a storyteller or similar. Some experience having worked in a business, NGO or consultancy would be an advantage. A demonstrable insight into NGO, Government and regulator audiences in the UK would be an advantage.
- Through direct experience the candidate should have a first-rate understanding of creating and executing communications plans.

2. Technical / Functional Skills
- A knowledge of technology policy issues and a passion for technology is a strong advantage.
- An understanding of technologies would be helpful but a passion for technology is essential.
- Strong writing abilities with ability to develop and approve materials

3. Personal Attributes / Interpersonal Skills
- Outgoing with excellent relational skills
- Good commercial awareness, with strong influencing and persuasive skills
- Lots of energy and an ability to work to tight deadlines
- Great collaboration skills and a customer oriented mindset

4. Qualifications
- Degree level qualification or equivalent
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Strong analytical and problem solving skills required. Ability to work with cross-divisional teams. Must have the ability to work under constant deadline pressure and manage multiple projects. Marketing experience with high technology products preferred. Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field required.
