Vitamin T is currently in search of a Category Manager for our client in Metro Detroit. This is a long-term opportunity!

Job Description
Job Title: Category Manager Reports To: Director of Product Development
Job Summary: Evaluate and develop potential new categories. Grow and manage existing category assortments. Manage the existing Product Development process from inception to launch.
Hours Required: 40+

Major Responsibilities
Product Line
Responsible for new category development, assortment extensions and brand development.
Identify successful products and categories that fit into the overall brand positioning and direction in the marketplace, while fitting into the company’s overall strategic plan.
Monitor current and future market trends, technology needs and consumer wants and needs.
Apply quantitative data in order to understand business opportunities.
Negotiate costs and develop pricing strategies with the goal of maximizing profits and gaining market share while ensuring customer satisfaction.
Interact with purchasing and quality to ensure production exceeds expectations of development cycle.
Work with Domestic and Import vendors to better understand how products are manufactured to ensure that we can be more efficient and more competitive and increase profitability.
Work with product designers in the development of new and existing categories.
Work with engineering and manufacturing to ensure the timely and accurate development and execution of each program.
Work closely with the Sales Team to define and execute strategies with key accounts in order to achieve revenue goals according to predetermined quotas.
Work closely with the HK office to ensure successful implementation of new and existing programs.
Prepare and manage marketing/promotional plans.
Prepare recommendations, financial models and presentations for senior management.
Perform other duties as required and assigned
Industrial Design
Communicate with customers to develop product parameters in order to meet their expectations
Work with Sales, Product Development and Marketing groups to develop project objectives.
Lead and participate in brainstorms, critiques and project discussions
Responsible for generating hand and digital sketches to communicate design concepts
Ability to professionally present design concepts to management & customers.

Experience and Skills Required
Bachelor’s degree.
Ability to work independently as well as under creative direction
Capacity to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously with strong prioritization skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Travel approximately 10% to 15%.
Strong attention to detail.

Minimum Position Qualifications

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to travel overnight, sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands, arms, to bend, stoop, kneel and lift weight up to 40 pounds.
