Category Manager

Our client, a cosmetics company, is looking for a smart, proven category manager who is enthusiastic about beauty and online
commerce to lead the business. As the leader of this rapidly growing business, you will
deliver best-in-category customer experiences and while driving sales and customer engagement. The
successful candidate in this highly-visible leadership position must share our passion for connecting
women through beauty. This person will lead the category with responsibility for P&L,
merchandising, promotions, pricing, and customer experience innovation. He/she will be directly
accountable for top line sales of the category.

Duties will include:
• Serving as the key advocate for the customer within the client
• Leading the category including managing the business team
• Developing and leading new initiatives to achieve team revenue goals, including strategizing,
setting pricing and promotions, partnering with internal teams for execution, and analyzing
performance
• Defining and leading programs to drive retention, loyalty, and referral
• Driving innovation in the category in terms of customer engagement and category program offering
• Preparing business reports and communicating regularly with executive team

5-7 years of experience as a brand manager, preferably in online retail or the beauty industry;
BA/BS; MBA preferred;
Experience directly leading a team and managing their performance
Previous P&L responsibility coupled with a strong understanding of brand marketing and financial
fundamentals
Track record of functioning both strategically and tactically in a young company that operates at a
fast cadence
Demonstrated ability to identify and solve ambiguous problems, including identifying customer
needs and inventing new solutions to meet those needs
Communication and collaboration skills that enable you to earn trust from all sides of the
company
Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities based on the rhythm of the business
Solid attention to detail with a desire to roll up your sleeves when needed
Ability to anticipate market trends and think strategically
Willingness to be flexible as markets, demands, and customer needs change
