Category Manager - Food & Beverage, Personal Care, Promotions and Clip
Start date – 4th May 2015
Duration – 1 x year (Maternity Cover)

The Category Manager will be responsible for the management and development of the Food & Beverage, Personal Care, Promotions, and Clip Licensing categories. Lead RBD for leading retail chains will be central to the responsibilities. The Category Manager will act as point person for all category and cross-category inter-divisional activity.

The role is a strategic sales role selling product and promotional opportunities to licensees. The position involves developing a strategic plan for the Food & Beverage, Personal Care, Promotions, and Clip Licensing categories. Regular travel to effectively manage & provide an excellent service to all partners will be required. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Development and implementation of a Category Plan for the Food & Beverage, Personal Care, Promotions, and Clip Licensing categories in the UK, integrating the international promotions plan/direction and company promotions plan/ direction

2. Responsibility for management and development of existing licensee base requiring strong account management skills

3. Management of a Licensing Executive (part)

4. New Business Development to open new markets and opportunities within the categories

5. Development of promotions and branded licensing opportunities within strategic accounts across key categories e.g. QSR’s, snack, etc. Manage Global, regional and local food promotions as appropriate. Ensure full collaboration with company's International Promotions Director and company's Promotions Director

6. Work within a dynamic sales and marketing environment using a team approach to develop new property opportunities e.g. Clip Licensing

7. Lead RBD for leading retail chains

8. Work with the rest of the company's regional category team to grow the category on a regional basis and co-ordinate pitches where required

9. Support Promotions Dept. to deliver cross-divisional promotional opportunities in particular on Family Entertainment Releases

10. Development of strong relationships with other divisions i.e. TV and Digital

SKILLS REQUIRED

1. Self Starter: High degree of personal energy, motivation and ‘push’. Ambition and drive to succeed and to progress within the company

2. Excellent interpersonal skills: A strong communicator able to influence people at all levels within organisations

3. Strong presentation: commanding presence and excellent presentation skills

4. New business development: strong sales skills with experience in cold calling essential, able to convert to revenue streams

5. Strong account management skills: able to manage and develop business with existing clients

6. Proven negotiation ability: able to sell ideas and concepts to businesses e.g. retailers and licensees

7. Computer literate: able to function on a self-sufficient basis in Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Outlook

8. Strong Time Management: able to manage many priorities and to use time effectively to achieve business goals

9. Team Player: ability to work within a matrix organisation and the flexibility to cope with fast pace of change and some ambiguity

10. Strategic Planner- proven planning ability. Able to develop plans and strategies and to follow them

11. Marketing literate: good understanding of the marketing mix, with a particular need for media and sales promotions experience and understanding

12. Retail literate: sound grasp of the UK retail market with a clear understanding of how character works at retail. Grocery industry bias preferred

PREFERRED BACKGROUND

Preference for candidates with Food & Beverage and promotions experience. Professional experience should span several of the areas below:

1. Sales Promotion Agency
2. Advertising Agency Account Management
3. Marketing Management
4. Trade marketing management
5. Licensor

Qualifications:

Educated to degree standard with an interest in entertainment and animation.

ISP diploma preferable but not essential
