Catalog/Editorial Designer

A global beauty/hair company is looking for a Print/Editorial Designer for a full-time freelance position if the shoe fits! This role will work on-site at their office in Manhattan - but work may be requested from home when needed so candidates must be able to access the internet and have work stations off-site with all necessary CS design programs for those times. 


  • Design monthly, salon promotional catalogs, sell sheets, New Door Brochures and Price list collateral (16-28pages) 
    • Briefed directly by the marketing team 
    • Designed within the brand guidelines of each brand provided by the Global Creative Directors 
      • Each launch within the catalog must represent the aesthetic of the campaign while not losing the identity of the overall brand 
  • Candidate must be able to communicate directly with Marketing teams; managing expectations, collaborating on design and managing timelines
  • Candidate is responsible for preparing and directing product/kit photoshoots as needed for each publication  
    •  Review/Negotiate photo shoot estimates; liaison between the vendor and marketing teams for approvals; execute deliverables; direct retouching for marketing approval and integrate into the publication for final deliveries
  • Candidate is expected to manage deal sheet image library thoroughly on the creative server and BOX 
  • · Candidate is responsible for preparation of files to be released for print production and distribution as well as the key liaison for proof approvals 

    • Communication between the fabricator and marketing teams is crucial during the proofing stages 

    • Must work within deal sheet timelines 

    •  When timelines are missed, the candidate should be able to suggest and manage a timeline that works for all parties 


  •  Candidate must show examples of rendered designs 
  • Photoshop rendering experience is a must 
  • Candidate must display an independent work ethic while being able to collaborate with multiple art directors, marketing managers, production managers and others to produce a dynamic editorial piece representing the brands 
  • Candidate must be efficient with time 
  • Candidate must be well-versed in the Adobe CS 
  • Candidate must be very organized and able to manage their own projects 
  • Candidate must be able to work from home if needed
