Business Planning Analyst

This position directly interfaces with buyers as well as internal departments (sales, marketing, forecasting, brand analysis, market and sales research). The primary focus of this position is to build and execute shelf placement, product mix and store-level strategies that improve the performance of key categories at retail.

To be successful in the role you will:

- Be directly responsible for building and managing Category Management efforts for select categories at Target, one of Mattel’s largest accounts.

- Be the key contact for the buyer, analysts, senior sales team members and account management teams.

- Directly impact sales and space to sales performance through improving shelf space allocation.

-Be tasked with maintaining the confidentiality of the account category and competitive data.

- Formulate recommendations based on Mattel marketing plans that provide a productive merchandising statement at retail.

- Be responsible for product performance evaluation, including planogram space to sales performance, margin and promotional performance, item listing recommendations, performance department strategies, and regular tracking reports

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Develop planograms, provide productivity space analysis, maintain planogram database, assist and coordinate Customer presentations

- Co-lead research proposals and projects with Shopper Research Team, derive actionable results, and track performance based on those results

- Gather data from internal and external sources, analyze data, develop, monitor and standardize account scorecard reporting, and disseminate analyses throughout organization

- Work with Buyer to finalize category planograms and support

- Perform retail store visits to analyze competition and provide sound business recommendations

- Assist Buyer in developing winning strategies for Target - be proactive in designing solutions.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

-1-3 years experience in category management, trade marketing, space planning, sales forecasting/analysis, consumer and/or sales research in a retail or consumer products industry required

-3-5 years overall work experience in a professional business, marketing, retail, finance/sales analysis, or related role required
-Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
-Experience in working with and analyzing data from Retailer POS data systems and/or syndicated data such as IRI, AC Nielsen, Spectra, etc.
Proven ability to synthesize massive amounts of data and conduct analyses.
-Increased level of decision-making to clarify and follow up on information necessary to draw analyses and maintain planograms
-Knowledge of JDA Space Planning or similar space planning tool
-Familiarity with Target Info Retriever system
-Able to drive through barriers, knock down walls and multi-task
-Sees challenges as opportunities and translates into actionable items
-Comfortable making one-on-one presentations

-Able to work independently with minimal supervision, adhere to schedules and follow up accordingly.
-Able to problem solve and exhibits a positive attitude while dealing with challenges.

-Willing to travel to Minneapolis, Minnesota
-Passion for Toy Industry and Category Management
