Business Manager

The Multinational Sales team is responsible for developing client advertising campaigns on a worldwide basis from International budgets originating from London and Paris. It is a global team and the scope of the responsibility for MN is to identify and develop client advertising programs defined by trading in more than 1 advertising market.

This is a challenging role reporting directly into the Multinational Sales Director and covers all aspects of Business Management for the broad team. The MN Business Manager is responsible for agency-focused revenue analysis, insights and forecasting. You will work in close partnership with the Multinational Sales Director and Leadership team, the MN sales analyst and the European market Business Managers and Finance functions to support and advise on key drivers of the Multinational business in order to help the core team and the markets to achieve their business goals.

Your time will be spent collating and interpreting key metrics; being an active participant at monthly business reviews; forecasting weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually; running ad-hoc analyses as required by the business and supporting the development & deployment of key business processes for the MN Sales team. You will be required to be a proxy for the MN Director and Sales Director within the business. You will also manage the quota process for the sales team twice yearly and work alongside the Corporate Monetization team to analyse and manage Multinational sales yields. To be successful in this role you will need to build strong working relationships with the Corporate Finance team as well as the local market Sales Leads and local market Business Managers.

This role will effectively act as a proxy to the Multinational Sales Director and would be key in adding strategically enhancing value to the business. They would be key in structuring how to launch new business areas and structure teams most effectively. They should be very comfortable presenting and have the gravitas to hold key meetings and presentations. They will also have a strong analyst within the team for support in the analytical aspects of the role.
The candidate would ideally come from a media arm of a large digital organisation (doesn’t have to just be digital).

They should have great comms, be self-motivated, punchy and have strong initiative.

Key Accountabilities

• Partner directly with the MN Sales Leadership team and European Leadership Team to provide relevant, timely business analysis. Focus on consistency, accuracy and simplicity.
• Prepare regular pro-active sales analysis, highlighting business issues and determining root causes. Build recommendations for improvements where appropriate. The analyses required will vary with time of year, region and business priorities however should include:
o Forecasting & delivery of weekly achieved and forecast numbers to sales management across 45 budget lines and 15 regional hubs
o Top 10 monthly deals and monetization initiative reporting
o Forecasting/budget variances
o Ownership of agency and client-led bottoms up forecast
o Ownership of agency account planning from the perspective of updating of agency trends and analysis
o Benchmarking of in-month performance ie amount of booked revenue and behavioral patterns and trends
o Trends by vertical (industry/product)
o Analysis of key wins/losses
o Agency buying patterns across markets
o Analysis of spend patterns – central versus local and multi local spend and by agency groups; display versus MMN trend patterns.
o Competitor trends analysis
• Provide timely response to your business partners’ queries and issues. Educate them where appropriate to better understand key metrics and reporting.
• Support MN Sales Team leadership for monthly business reviews, forecasting, QBR, MYR and budgeting. This will include preparation for, and participation in, performance review meetings and following up on issues arising from these meetings through engagement with the markets and preparation of ad-hoc reports and analyses
• Central point of contact for multinational sales team re quota setting process
• Communication to Finance and local market Sales Leads of monthly results and supporting commentary
• Developing Business Intelligence function – providing intelligence around revenue, product, advertiser/agency behavior & trends.
• Provide regular updates on MN key wins for internal newsletter
• Prepare and contribute in quarterly market visits to key local partners to discuss key issues and encourage continued collaboration.
• Delivery of accurate data reporting and business intel/ insight.
• Ability to build excellent relationships with your key customers, local market Sales Leads and local market Business Managers.
• Ability to build excellent working relationships with key partner groups e.g. Finance, Corp business management, BEM & sales tools teams, GADs.
• Quality of ROB Regional/International commentary around key revenue drivers.
• Ability to manipulate large amounts of data into simple reporting & analyses
• Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic business environment and to deliver quality results as part of a team
• Good working knowledge of key tools such as FAR cube, Ad-CRM, MSA Sales, Ad Expert

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential Experience
o Experience within a corporate environment, preferably within the media, software or telecoms industries
o Analyst, financial modeling experience
o Experience within an international environment is preferred
• Experience working with Sales professionals is preferred
• Strong project management skills
• Detail oriented work style
• Experience working client or digital advertising agency is a plus
• Innovative – able to identify new opportunities and make them happen

Technical/Functional Skills
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Comfortable presenting and working with sales teams
• Able to write strategic and tactical sales plans
o Advanced PC skills using excel are a must
o Strong modeling & financial analysis skills
