Broadcast/Board Operator

Must be available for shifts 4a.m.-12p.m./12p.m.-9p.m.

Must Have's:
1. 5 years of experience in broadcast/television- no exception!
2. Advanced knowledge and use of video switcher boards-30%, audio mixing-30%, remote (PTZ) and manual camera operation-30%.

Responsibilities:
• Performs a variety of operation functions for live national and globally broadcast shows
• Jobs can include, but not limited to: video switcher operation, audio board operation, graphics package preparation/delivery, remote and on-stage camera operation
• Performs technical quality control checks to ensure A/V media meets company standards
• Identifies, reviews and reports system anomalies and outages
• Troubleshoots problems involving the signal path, equipment, media, programming and logs
• Documents technical discrepancies and reports problems to appropriate personnel
• Maintains logs; inputs data into established databases
• Participates in the development and implementation of processes, procedures and training materials while providing mentoring and training to junior personnel
• Assists with directing activities and team actions during smaller shows and crisis management situations
• Assists with broadcast design, integration and operation for studio upgrades and new studio expansion

Broadcast Technician Required Skill Set and Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years experience working in a broadcast/television studio environment.
• Comfortable taking direction from Producer/Technical Director in a fast-paced live show environment.
• Advanced knowledge and use of video switcher boards, audio mixing, remote (PTZ) and manual camera operation.
• Solid understanding of television systems technology concepts, components and systems.
• Knowledgeable and detail-oriented with equipment organization and inventory — maintain up-to-date inventory database system to check in/out and log new equipment.
• Problem-solver and ‘cool-under fire’ attitude.
• Intermediate to advanced understanding of camera angles and composition, rigging and staging
• Basic understanding of studio lighting setup for both pre-recorded and live- broadcast video sets
• Solid understanding of video formats, codecs, resolutions, and bitrates

It's a PLUS to have these skill sets:
• FCP7, FCPX or other relevant NLE experience
• Adobe Photoshop and After Effects
• Setup and operational knowledge of wireless microphones and IFB systems.
• Setup and operational knowledge of Teleprompter systems
• Basic knowledge of closed captioning system integration and operation
• Mandarin speaker is a HUGE plus for at least one of these positions
