Broadcast Media Buyer

The Media Buyer is responsible for the purchase, execution and delivery of approved media plans in the areas of traditional broadcast media (TV, Cable, Radio). The Media Buyer assists in establishing appropriate media strategies and budgets for clients. The Media Buyer must stay current with the rapidly changing metrics within the media landscape and must have a working and proficient understanding of media measurements and how to creatively apply them in the Company’s objective of exceeding the client’s goals.
Job Responsibilities
Negotiate in good faith on behalf of and our clients
Establish deadlines for materials needed and reports deadlines to client or client’s creative team and internal traffic department
Able to negotiate and place buys across both General Market and Hispanic demos
Makes timely placement of all media buys according to schedule
Enters all buys into buying/billing software at time of purchase (MediaOcean)
Negotiate best possible rates, requested added value and promotional opportunities
Provide post buy reports for all purchased TV / Radio activity within required timeframe
Maintaining of client flow charts of GRP and budget goals as necessary
Develop understanding of clients business and competitive landscape
Participate in media buying/planning strategy meetings
Field incoming proposals/phone calls for various clients
Work with planning team in areas of market conditions and rate expectations
Required Skills, Experience and Education
Experience with media software tools such as MediaOcean, STRATA and SQAD
Excellent non-adversarial negotiation, placement, trafficking and post buy analysis skills
Experience with LPM, PPM and metered market analysis and management
Nielsen and Arbitron media data analysis and interpretation
Experience in negotiating both English and Spanish-language broadcast a plus
Bachelor's degree; concentration in advertising, marketing or communications preferred
1-5 Years’ experience in Media Buying or related agency experience
