Branding Communications Associate

A well-known hedge fund is seeking a versatile branding professional to contribute to an evolving corporate marketing function. Reporting to the Head of Investor Relations, this position entails a broad range of responsibilities, including enhancing our long-term brand implementation capabilities, helping position the firm from a brand perspective and providing marketing support to all of our businesses. There will be a natural overlap with internal communications, as the general messaging of the firm will be both internally and externally facing.

Role and Responsibilities
 Leverage the firm’s brand identity to enhance the firm’s marketing strategy, materials and content for the various business
 Monitor brand implementation – act as a resource to employees and also as a point of monitoring and consistency
 Create custom marketing and collateral materials, including design and content, as required by each of the firm’s business areas
 Develop along with an outside vendor a website for new business initiatives
 On-going responsibility for maintaining and updating all firm-wide standard materials, including investor presentations, divisional pitch books and brochures, signage, recruiting materials, etc.
 Support the firm’s intranet development and implementation from a brand/design perspective, with additional focus on content guidance
 Execute the firms Investor Conference choosing venue and responsible for all branding of conference materials, signage at the events and e-mail invitation.
 Design firm e-holiday card
 Brand all internal events and parties
 Basic brand management – monitoring of stationery needs, fielding new materials requests, invitations, business cards, etc.

Skills and Requirements:
This position will require the successful candidate to quickly become well-versed in understanding our external brand as well as our internal culture. Therefore, previous experience in a communications/branding and actual design function either within financial services or supporting financial services clients is required.

The ideal candidate will be:
 A strong strategic and conceptual thinker (more about having the skills to design/produce collateral/materials in house
 The reason for hiring this person so we don’t have to outsource the creation of these materials) with the ability to convert ideas into tangible assets that enhance and support the brand.
 In addition, appropriate candidates will possess the following experience, characteristics and skills:
 3-5+ years in branding/communications roles or related experience with distinctive career progression and track record of professional success; financial services experience required
 BA/BS required with solid academic performance
 Strong design and project management skills are a must
 Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to synthesize information
 Interest in verbal articulation not just printed materials (i.e. how we talk about the firm business by business both internally and externally)
 Experience managing and working with graphic designers website designers and printers – not as important if they know how to do this themselves as we want to insource most of this besides the website we are building
 Knowledge of graphics packages
 Exceptional organizational skills/affinity for detail and tireless dedication to premium quality
 Demonstrated teamwork skills and experience working across business lines
 Strong value system and high integrity with a keen sense of ethics
