Brand Director, Marketing Excellence

This position leads the strategic agenda for global marketing best practices, training & development, and multi-cultural strategy. This marketing leader has the exciting charge of reaching into tomorrow and pulling it forward to deliver next-generation marketing capabilities.

The Director, Marketing Excellence oversees several key initiatives to drive outstanding global brand building, specifically: development and activation of new marketing models and processes, capability building, and multi-cultural strategy & activation plans. The position operates at both a broad, conceptual level and requires execution of key strategies and programs.

The scope and nature of these responsibilities includes:
•Global Best Practices: The Director of Marketing Excellence will lead the identification, establishment and activation of global marketing best practices and processes across the Hershey Company. This individual will scout out new approaches and principles and bring them to the organization to ensure the company has the right frameworks and models to build our brands. Additionally, this individual will create new, approaches to ensure they are setting the industry standard for brand building, specifically around electrifying human insights, positioning strategy, integrated marketing communications, connections planning, and global brand stewardship.
• Building Marketing Capabilities: This position leads the agenda for building global marketing capabilities across the enterprise. S/he sets the agenda for the Marketing Academy, whose mission is to deliver learning opportunities that enable marketers, across all geographies and levels, to unlock their and their brands’ full potential. This individual will lead the strategy for all marketing training and development including curriculum and deployment in classroom, e-learning, conferences, and roundtable formats. S/he will define global marketing competencies and the experiences & training to gain and demonstrate mastery of these competencies.
•Multi-Cultural Strategy and Activation: She/he will lead multi-cultural marketing strategy, including where to play and how to win. Also, the director will lead strategic activation across agency partners and brand teams to ensure holistic and integrated creative ideas across multi-cultural and general market growth cohorts.

The new Director of Marketing Excellence must be:

• Bold Visionary: The position requires someone with the foresight to set the industry standard for marketing and have the passion and creativity to constantly strive to outperform and out think the competition. This individual is intellectually curious, enjoys discovering new ways to be make deeper and more meaningful connections with consumers, and has a strong understanding of the rapidly changing external environment.
• Motivating People Leader: The director must be a strong people leader. He/she will have two direct reports, Manager of Brand Excellence and Multi-Cultural, and Senior Manager, Marketing Training and Capabilities. Additionally, he/she will need to rally support and resources for recommendations across the enterprise including senior management, peers and direct reports, as well as agency partners.
• Extraordinary Marketer: The individual will have had a proven track record leading iconic brands that have a deep, emotional connection with consumers leading to strong growth and/or experience in a marketing center of excellence at the forefront of marketing strategy development.
• Strong Collaborator: The position requires an innate ability to work and problem solve across multiple stakeholders to inspire, challenge, and align the organizational resources and new marketing best practices. This individual will need to build a strong and extensive network of advocates.
