Brand Communciations & Events Manager

Our client, a Fortune 500 outdoor apparel and equipment company based in Portland, is looking for a Brand Communications and Event Manager to join their team on a temporary basis.

Develop and implement multi-channel strategies and plans, focusing on: public relations, promotions and social media to position our brand as the most luxury in outdoor and the most outdoor in luxury boot brand. Increase relevance and drive demand with the brand's target consumers, to achieve long-term consumer engagement. Align and leverage seasonal initiatives and maximize opportunities. This position requires the ability to manage inception through delivery of programs and projects. The position involves exceptional media relations, promotional and communication skills. It requires a high degree of accountability, results oriented drive and the diligence to measure outcomes internally and with agency partners. Experience managing multiple agencies is required, including design management. Working closely with brand and retail marketing, international marketing, product and sales is critical.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Understand the brand and seasonal strategy, and the roles of public relations, promotions and social media, including how they work together with all channels to drive engagement and demand.
· Work with Senior Global Brand Director to set global public relations, promotions and social media strategy and goals. Clearly communicate these to international stakeholders to achieve adoption and adaption. Track and summarize results. Meet/exceed goals.
· Set and implement global public relations, promotions and social media guidelines, to include defining responsibilities and developing and delivering messaging documents. Measure and analyze outcomes of programs and recommend future strategies based on learning from data and a broad knowledge of the competitive landscape.
· Manage relationships with agencies and contractors by negotiating contracts and managing relationships, deliverables and budgets. Ensure the brand receives superior thought leadership, ideation and execution with outside agencies. Lead RFP process for new project work/agencies. Develop yearly reviews between our team and agency partners.
· Manage public relations, promotions and social media budgets with good planning, discipline and regular tracking.
· Stay current on industry trends, including fashion, PR and promotions initiatives and communicate these to key stakeholders as appropriate. Use this knowledge to inform future plans. Monitor industry and competitive landscape and effectively communicate essential industry news and trends to colleagues and key stakeholders.
· Maintain positive, open lines of communication with all management, staff and other departments in order to contribute to the smooth flow of information and efficient operation of the organization.
· Develop PR plan for brand and seasonal initiatives, leveraging all communications: print, online, trade and consumer media to deliver key messages.
· Develop PR, promotions and social media materials including press kits, look books, press releases, pitch stories, collateral, master editorial calendar for social media postings, etc.
· Identify, develop and coordinate media tours and press events to support brand/seasonal communication goals.
· Initiate and maintain exceptional relationships with media. Includes in-person briefings, event attendance, trade show participation, proactive pitching and timely response to editor inquiries. Ensure plan is in place to establish and grow relationships with targeted media contacts.
· Develop, manage and execute brand and sales building promotional programs on a local, regional, national or global level.
· Identify, prioritize, organize, analyze and evaluate promotion/sponsorship requests. Seek out new and innovative promotions that will make a difference in the marketplace with SORELs target consumers. Make move forward recommendations for all promotion and sponsorships programs:
· Identify areas of opportunity
· Establish clear goals in line with department goals and ensure goals are met
· Outline individual participating group’s “gives and gets”
· Set up processes to maximize ROI for the brand
· Interact and communicate with other groups such as Advertising, Brand Design, Web, International, Planning and Sales concerning initiatives
· Outline clear budget guidelines for project and adhere to budget
· Negotiate program terms and work with legal, if necessary, to execute promotions and sponsorship agreement
· Identify appropriate brand products to promote and ensure compelling communications for maximum brand exposure
· Represent the brand at external events including traveling with or on the behalf of the Marketing Department to selected events or sponsorships
· Ensure promotion or sponsorship commitments are fulfilled
· Develop and distribute program summary.
· Develop and manage product placement / celebrity / key influencer seeding strategy.
· Leverage advertising value-added opportunities.
· Produce brand enhancing promotional items for the brand to use at events, sell in meetings, etc.
· Manage social media strategy for the brand. Implement process to manage conversations and imagery across social media channels (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, blogs, Pinterest, Instagram, etc.) Elevate and protect brand perceptions online. Develop, execute and sustain successful social media campaigns.
· Serve as the brand’s social media lead: must be comfortable presenting and explaining complex strategies and tools to multiple audiences, and be just as comfortable executing day-to-day management of social media planning and execution.
· Develop and deliver a consistent flow of content that is engaging, on-topic an in-line with brand guidelines.
· Build and grow brand conversations across various social media channels including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and emerging platforms. Success will be measured by engagement and size of social community.
· Strategize with internal teams and agency partners to develop, execute and sustain successful social media campaigns.
· Advise international teams and key accounts on social media strategy.

REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and or experience specializing in marketing, public relations, sponsorships journalism, communications or related field.
· Must have a minimum 5 years of experience with public relations, promotions and social media experience, including agency management.
· Existing relationships with media required.
· Fashion industry experience required.
· Possess extensive knowledge of the public relations and promotions and social media functions and practices.
· Extensive knowledge of media relation’s principles.
· Strong written communication skills; knowledge of and experience with journalistic style writing.
· Strong verbal communication skills with developed ability to stay on message while speaking to media on behalf of company.
· Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
