Bilingual Spanish Proofreader

  • Exhibit proficiency in the knowledge and skills essential to this role, including native Spanish language mastery (comprehension as well as writing and translation from English) and keeping current on evolving nomenclature, grammar, usage and spelling.
  • Complete projects from the Proofreader job queue, review wide range of communication materials and make relevant comments/notes/corrections in project management application in a timely manner.
  • By paying close attention to detail, ensure all creative work adheres to the client's high quality standards.
  • Focus is on Proofreading but Translation duties will also be performed to the extent there is available time/capacity.
  • Knowledge of Spanish regional differences and similarities is key to ensuring effective communication.

    Technical Skills

  • Master the client's style, tone and nomenclature. Ensure the group nomenclature resource document is updated promptly as new terms and products are developed or revised.
  • Build database of commonly used phrases/descriptions to enable better consistency across communication vehicles, among internal and external translators/areas.
  • Strive to be current on the systems, work processes and procedures used in the department and be able to utilize them to meet operational objectives.
  • Follow-up with Copy Writers and/or Partners to discuss issues, solicit feedback and develop good working relationships to better understand the business needs and issues
  • Coordinate closely with fellow Proofreaders to ensure consistency, provide second reads and with Traffic Managers to manage expectations/throughput.
  • Continually look for ways to improve work efforts in terms of quality (error free) and volume of work reviewed.

    Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of proofreading/copy editing/Translations experience in a marketing, advertising or related business
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Self-starter – ability to work independently and focus intently, providing exceptional attention to detail
