Asst. Creative Manager/Managing Editor

As one of our healthcare client's Asst Creative Manager's/Managing Editor's, you’ll work closely with marketing leadership, internal business partners, and your team members to help our client create bold, strategic, and persuasive marketing content that furthers the client's position as a health care leader. This is a hands-on people management role with 75% spent reviewing, directing, coaching creative writing work and 25% possibly doing hands-on creative writing.

In this role, your goal will be to inspire customer loyalty and retain our commercial customers and individual members. You’ll oversee work for business, consumer, and internal audiences, so fluency across audience needs and goals is a must.

Familiarity in syndicating content across multiple marketing channels – from digital to print to sales meetings -- preferred. Journalism background a plus, but not mandatory.

It’s a challenging, fast-paced environment, so if you’re curious and motivated, you’ll never be bored. This is a full-time, onsite position (40 hours; Monday through Friday) located in Burbank, California.

Responsibilities:
• Lead a content team consisting of writers, editors, proofreaders, and project managers, leveraging critical thinking and inspiration to encourage the best possible results.
• Guide your team in developing effective marketing solutions for all audiences (e.g., consumer, business, employees), delivered through all channels (e.g., Web content, marketing and sales collateral, email campaigns, banner ads)
• Support Managing Editors in ensuring the consistent interpretation and application of the client's brand voice/tone and look/feel, while contributing strategically to the longterm vision and evolution of the brand and value proposition
• Stay connected to relevant marketplace trends and work with your fellow marketing leaders to translate these trends into content that drives customer and member engagement
• Work with content strategy, content management, and content systems teams to support the development, analysis, and syndication of communications that support the acquisition and retention of members
• Perform management functions, including but not limited to, making employment decisions regarding hiring, promoting, demoting and terminating, conducting performance appraisals and coaching
• Drive internal adoption and aid in the ongoing development of an enterprise content program, a new venture of client's marketing organization, through education, advocacy, and influence

Skills and Qualifications:
• Minimum 8 years of marketing communications experience with 2 years of creative management experience.
• Degree in marketing, communications, business, English or related field.
• Exceptional managerial skills with demonstrated ability to hire, mentor, inspire, and handle day-to-day management responsibilities with positivity and grace.
• Driven to translate complicated subject matter into engaging, accessible, clear, simple communications for diverse audiences.
• Strategic thinker with a passion for interactive and print marketing.
• Persuasive presenter and advocate of creative work to key decision makers, from peers and partners to executive leadership team.
• Successful in influencing without authority. Values collaboration and partnership as a key to successful outcomes.
• Excellent problem solving skills. Creative, practical, innovative, thorough, detail-oriented.
• Entrepreneurial. Driven, agile, analytical, curious, courageous, empathetic, transparent, knows how to get things done, effectively and with purpose.
• Disciplined manager of time and projects. Highly organized.
• Expert with content management systems and strategies, content analytics, and building complex editorial calendars.
• Adept in organizational change management and creative operations in a high volume environment.
