Associate Web Content Producer

Our client, an independent nonprofit organization, whose portfolio has grown over time to include public opinion research; arts and culture; environmental, health, and state & consumer policy initiatives has an immediate contract need for an Associate Web Content Producer to sit on-site in their Washington, DC office. This contract role (six + weeks) will sit in their growing Communications Department and will report to the Director of Digital Communications.

This position will be responsible for cross-publishing content to client's external Web sites by adding and updating content, linking to appropriate related information and responding to changing conditions. The Associate Web Content Producer will be assigned to a variety of programs or campaigns and act as the liaison between communications.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Formats content, edits copy, writes headlines, selects and crops photos, inserts charts, updates existing content, and cross-publishes using the client's Content Management System (CMS).
• Recognize, employ and encourage good Web writing. Increase the compatibility of our content with search engines and for Web users.
• Conduct Web research. Monitor news, blogs and other consumer-generated media.
• Create opportunities to capitalize on advances in Web site development and electronic communications.
• Educate operations and program staff on the value of online tools and keep the client abreast of new Web-related tools, through both verbal communications & written proposals.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of two years of experience in Web-site management, marketing communications and project management.
• Proven ability to frame and draft cogent written messages.
• Strong strategic and tactical Web editorial skills, honed by previous Web site management experience in either the for-profit or nonprofit arena.
• Professional experience working with HTML. Knowledge of PhotoShop, Home Site or a similar HTML editor, scanning software, Adobe Acrobat, Illustrator, layout software and Web traffic software, such as WebTrends.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities, organize time and identify resources for projects and anticipate Web content.
• Able to work in groups & individually to meet goals. Understands organizational structures and is able to work effectively through administrative systems.
