Associate Marketing Manager - Customer Marketing

The primary focus of this position is to maximize the productivity of our clients promotions and in store/online environment at the retailers through strategic planning, developing programs, executing initiatives and analyzing the results. The Associate Manager will assist in leading the multifunctional sales planning process partnering with Sales Management, Marketing, Category Management, Finance and outside partners. Includes development of account strategies, retail marketing programs, business planning calendars, and profitability analysis.


Category Growth - Responsible for assisting account planning to drive overall toy category growth
Data Management - Utilize account & syndicated systems/data and develop processes to track, analyze and report key performance indicators
Analytics - Leverage data to analyze key performance indicators at consumer, product, category, channel, and account levels and recommend enhancements
Product Assortment & Placement - Leverage data & analytics to assist in product assortment, pricing & placement
Assist Account Development - Assist with account planning needs to drive overall growth of category/account


Category Growth
- Assist in identifying growth targets of toy categories at channel & account levels
- Assist in setting sales and profit targets that are aggressive and realistic for the category & account
- Continuously update Manager/Director of Customer Marketing on key performance measurements vs. objectives and recommend improvements to continue growth of channel/account

Data Management
- Assist in developing and executing channel and account reports and analysis to improve organization, efficiencies and provide insights
- Assist in the development of presentations of channel/sales/profitability by category, sub-category, and brand
- Centralize/organize reports and relevant information for easy access and mutual use by category management and accounts using Account Systems, Syndicated Data, STAR, NPD, Others
- Target improvement areas and recommend improvements
- Ensure improvements are organized, integrated and maintained
- Assist in managing timely flow and communication of data and publish regularly to key personnel
- Identify Channel/Account opportunities to move the business forward or proactively communicate issues before they become problems

- Review syndicated data sources to identify toy industry trends and performance to provide recommendations to improve category growth
- Leverage channel/category/account data to identify and communicate missed category & product opportunities
- Assist in developing benchmarks for profitable category management, including consumer sales, inventory, turns, profit, and other key performance measurements
- Assist with review/analyze product placement & assortments to measure accuracy of forecasted results and recommend improvements
- Track/analyze pricing and promotional programs of assortments and communicate effectiveness

Product Assortment & Placement
- Leverage data and analytics and formulate recommendations of product assortment and placement (i.e. on shelf, off shelf) throughout account based on identified measurements, trends and opportunities

Assist in Account Development
- Assist in preparing impactful, compelling presentations which marry the analytical findings into powerful category/channel/account review and recommendations
- Assist in organization/preparation of off-site and on-site meetings with cross functional groups, account personnel and sales team
- Continually and proactively look for ways to improve process and methodology
- Regularly visit stores to observe and report on in field executions of display materials, competitive facts and trade support

- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or related field (MBA preferred)

- Minimum of 4 years' experience (or 2 years with MBA) in consumer/trade marketing, category management, space planning, consumer research and/or sales required
- Prior cross-functional team management experience required; exceptional level of support, service, and teamwork with retailers, sales, marketing, and outside vendors to meet objectives and ensure smooth project management.
- Possess complex problem solving techniques/skills required on a daily basis
- Extremely strong analytical skills necessary for profitability analysis and ROI projections; ability to articulate the effect on retail sales, listings and profitability
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills necessary to present and communicate critical information and programs to retailers' management, senior management, marketing, sales and outside vendors.
- Analysis and tracking of program budgets as they relate to assigned accounts to ensure that budget parameters are met and resources are used efficiently
