The Assistant Designer will report to the Director, Education Publications and Communications and will provide design support for Education & Academic Affairs print collateral, web pages and online marketing/promotional initiatives. Responsibilities also include assistance with proofreading, maintenance of production schedules and marketing/communications research projects. The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Design/layout/production of division print materials (brochures, ads, cd labels, signage, etc.) and assist Education Publications and Communications Associate (senior designer) with edit rounds for established projects
• Assist with proofreading multiple rounds of copy drafts and layout proofs
• Coordinate/follow-up on production schedules with internal staff and external vendors
• Assist Education Web Associate with update of division web pages in content management system
• Help prepare imagery/artwork for website and other electronic initiatives
• Create and edit online marketing initiatives (e-mail blasts, e-newsletters, etc.) that promote awareness and reinforce brand

Research and Administrative Support as follows:
• Assistance with research/compilation for articles for major publications such as alumni magazine
• Research opportunities for print and electronic avenues of promotion, help analyze projects to determine effectiveness and value
• Compile information on mailing list providers to create a resource guide; identify professional societies and other associations for all Education & Academic Affairs audiences
• Help maintain design/print resource binder; provide sample of each item and associated development, design and production costs.
• Create and maintain resource guide for journal/publication advertising-help to identify appropriate publications, compile demographic information, obtain pricing and artwork requirements

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in graphic or web/interactive design or related field
• Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign); html coding; Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, design, production, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and work in deadline-driven environment
• Experience with flash a plus
• Interest in copywriting a plus
