This team is looking for a passionate and experienced Technical Artist to join our team and work in close collaboration with engineers, designers, and content artists. The role offers the opportunity to explore and define content creation methodologies and help the project’s team members achieve their visual, architectural, and performance goals for console, desktop, web, and mobile platforms.
* Incubate and develop innovative solutions to visual problems and workflows. Use your passion for learning, implementing and sharing the latest innovations in real-time graphics and content authoring. Identify and author software and tools to achieve this goal.
* Design and develop runtime character rigging, animation, and customization technology which supports high diversity in body, face, expression, and animation variety.
* Help bridge communication between content and engineering teams, providing insight and solutions to make development better for artists. Provide feedback to the engineering teams, helping us create better platform tools for game artists.
* Lead negotiations between content and engineering teams to develop and refine content and resource budgets. Use your experience with content development techniques to ensure that experiences attain the highest possible level of fidelity, even when features must be cut or restricted.
* Through your knowledge of game development and real-time engines, guide authoring of content which can be optimally deployed to a wide variety of targets.
*Partner with art directors, designers, and engineers to help develop content plans, implement solutions and provide feedback across disciplines.
* Facilitate active adherence both design language and style direction, both within the Team experiences and across all Company products.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
* 8+ years of industry-related experience. Minimum 5 years production experience in games.
* Strong communication skills.
* Demonstrable experience with commercial game engines, especially Unity.
* Demonstrable experience working with DCC applications such as Maya, Max, Cinema 4D, Modo, or Houdini.
* Exceptional grasp on creation of efficient, purely procedural textures – especially within Substance Designer.
* Strong understanding of, and ability to collaborate on, construction of advanced character animation and customization rigs, and content pipelines.
* Familiarity with advanced animation systems and techniques, including; IK/FK blending, Blendshapes, blend trees, and state machines.
* Strong C# programming skills for tool authoring/high level engine modifications.
* Strong CG programming skills for developing multiplatform shaders and full-screen post-effects.
* Strong understanding of mathematics, including high-level linear algebra concepts and APIs.
* Willingness to travel for remote content production guidance, as well as for developer visits and conferences.
BONUS SKILLS
* The ability to extend the capabilities of DCC packages via plugin APIs.
* Experience with 3D printing pipelines.
* Experience with 3D, world-space UI integration.
* Experience with VR or AR.
