Art Director/Graphic Designer

Our client needs a talented Senior Art Director who can work with copywriters and other members of the creative team to develop creative concepts and help visually translate core ideas into concepts that help clients accomplish strategic marketing and communications goals. Must be able to work with designers to provide fundamental art direction needed for the layout of any type of creative deliverable. If you’re not quite sure what an Art Director does, this may not be the role for you. We need somebody with a proven understanding of the creative development process who can breathe life into concepts and hit the ground running multiple projects and accounts.

On a day-to-day basis, you’ll do things that include:

Aggressively contribute to concept development, design and execution of multichannel marketing programs.
Working in a collaborative team environment with copywriters, associate creative directors, creative directors, the interactive team and other agency team members to consistently create awesomeness.
Help designers concept the layout of specific creative pieces
Consulting with clients, AEs, creative and production department heads to review client requirements and coordinate creative development.
Presenting concepts to internal and external parties.
Supporting ACD in reviewing development of creative product to ensure that it’s a strong execution of the concept and that it’s up to Client’s standards and the client’s specifications.
Attending photo shoots to ensure that photography supports the concept as needed.
Thinking proactively on the client’s behalf on ways to solve marketing problems creatively
Show a clear vision of what constitutes quality creative work
Think through a creative concept, considering who it engages key audiences and anticipate potential problem areas

Requirements:
5+ years in an Art Director role.
5+ years experience designing in an agency setting.
B2B experience working in the oil and gas/energy sectors
(agency or client side) is preferred but not required
References that can speak to your teamwork with creative directors, writers, graphic designers and production teams.
Experience with concept development and brainstorming
(must be able to talk through your thought process with examples).
Able to help ACD and CD steward creative from concept to design and production.
Possess a broad understanding of design fundamentals, illustration principals, typography and photography (theory and practice).
Must have an influential communication style; able to persuade and articulate the value of your ideas to the client.
Capable of thinking conceptually and leading brainstorm sessions with creative teams.
Thorough knowledge of Adobe CS
Bachelor’s degree in advertising, communication design or visual arts.
