Behind every great concept, memorable design and beautiful ad is an amazing Art Director, and we’re looking for an awesome freelance Art Director for maternity coverage!. Do you have a branding background and retail or e-tail marketing experience to help shape the aesthetic of our emerging brand and share it with the world? Our client is looking for a seasoned freelance Art Director/ACD to support the creative department. As the keeper of the brand flame, this team owns the voice, aesthetic and shapes all pieces of customer facing communication, from the website graphics, email campaigns and display banners to on-the-ground event activations and social media application. THIS IS TEMP and START DATE IS 5/28/15.

• a great designer, communicator and creative thinker with excellent client-facing skills
• comfortable art directing photography to bring your vision to life
• an excellent collaborator who loves working with writers and designers to bring a vision to life
• well versed in designing email campaigns, banner ads and website assets that are both creative and garner results
• experienced leader, comfortable giving creative direction across all disciplines
• conceptual thinker, able to craft high-level campaign ideas and bring them to life.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Work with Sr. Copywriter to develop the look and feel for seasonal campaigns
• Pitch and present to internal clients with solid rationale
• Lead brainstorming sessions and translate conceptual into tangible creative work
• Design assets across multiple mediums
• Direct and mentor designers and junior staff to ensure cohesive vision across all channels
• Write pre-pro books and art direct photo shoots in support of seasonal campaigns as necessary

• Proactive in presenting and pitching ideas to internal clients
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Very well organized, with exceptional attention to detail

Background/Qualifications:

• 5 - 7 years professional experience in design agency or in-house creative department
• 4 year degree in Art, Advertising, Graphic Design or equivalent
• Experience leading and directing a creative team
• Solid print design experience as evidenced in your book
• Exceptional typography, composition, color-theory and design skills
• Experience working with Copywriters and Photographers
• Good understanding of web design and design for on-line media
• Experience with building and maintaining a brand are a plus
• Software required: Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign (expert), Illustrator (really good), Photoshop (really good)
