Role & Responsibilities - Job Title: Art Director Job Summary: As an Art Director you are responsible for the development, design and execution of creative concepts for leading-edge Marketing and Web solutions. You may also have the opportunity to play a Creative Lead role on a smaller track of work, managing a small team of designers and collaborating with developers, IAs, copywriters and content strategists as a part of the creative process. Primary Responsibilities: • Apply style/brand guides if necessary in the execution of existing concepts • Ensure quality and preparation of deliverable for handoff to interactive developers, printers, client, etc. • Create layouts applying design principles such as color, typography, photographic selection, organizing elements and usability • Provide rationale for design choices; assure design meets business objectives as stated in creative brief • Define outlines and storyboards for Flash (or equivalent software) animations (identifying the range of assets to be used, the story to be told, etc) • Develop creative ideas based on criteria in creative brief and/or direction from senior leadership, collaborating with team members and copywriters • Direct 1-2 designers to help develop sketches/storyboards to present to senior team; assist in rationale and strategy for ideas in final deck • Develop style of the presentation for existing concepts/directions; determine best format to execute upon ideas • Help define a brand’s visual language (color palette, logo, font, etc) across a range of media (may include print, online marketing, Web site, packaging, etc) with minimal oversight • Compare a brand’s visual language to other competitors; provide recommendations to the client/internal team • Collaborate with Project Manager and Project Director to assemble a quality team for small to medium projects • Lead and motivate the team to realize goals and deliver a successful project on time • Provide direction to Level 1 Art Directors and Designers Experience Guidelines: • 4+ years of industry experience • Strong design portfolio with 4+ years education, industry related degree is a plus • Ability to multi-task and work efficiently under pressure with careful attention to detail is a must • A solid working knowledge of the latest versions of applicable programs -- Mac OS, Fireworks, Photoshop and Illustrator, etc. • A good working knowledge of online and offline production • Passion for design and eagerness to collaborate with other creative people • Self-motivated, organized and accountable • Well-developed communication skills including ability to present to other team members (clients a plus) • Understanding of Informational Architecture practices, motion design, and the strengths and limitations of Flash, Ajax, Flex, and other emerging platforms Education: Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent military experience

Other Requirements - Strong digital book • Good UX/AI thinker (Not to be confused with UX/AI person - more about how UX relates with design) • Can design from wireframes • 5+ years experience (ideally more but I don’t want to exclude young talent) • Works well with team
