Art Director

The Art Director is an integral part of the marketing team and a key liaison to line-of-business and marketing managers. The position impacts worldwide, company-wide image, timelines of program launches, and successful client-facing marketing communications programs.

Working with the Creative Director, the Art Director maintains the visual integrity of the company brand portfolio as well as helps formulate and evolve the corporate graphic identity. Identifies and manages outside vendors and creative resources as required as well as partners with copywriters and/or internal resources to ensure best graphic solutions. Supervision is moderate, works independently and coaches/art directs junior staff. Budget responsibilities could be up to $200K for one project. Requires final project approval by the Creative Director. Working with the Creative Director, the Art Director maintains the visual integrity of the company brand portfolio as well as helps formulate and evolve the corporate graphic identity


Responsibilities:

• Role expected to take full creative and fiscal responsibility for any marketing communication projects - collaborate with others to help formulate corporate graphic identity, working directly with high-level clients/management to manage multiple projects for multiple clients.
• Manage outside creative resources as required and identify new creative trends, emerging technologies and ways to advance sales tools.
• Budget responsibility could be up to $100K - 200K for one project.
• Meet with senior levels of management including line of business head and sector directors of marketing and informally manage lower level staff.
• Develop and executing the design of a wide variety of marketing materials with a special emphasis on presentations on MS Office and Powerpoint. This individual is the team expert responsible for developing MS Office templates, along with coordinating related training programs.
• Develops a wide variety of integrated marketing materials across multiple media, including print, digital, exhibits, signage and custom projects
• Identifies and manages outside vendors and creative resources as required as well as partners with copywriters and/or internal resources to ensure best graphic solutions
• Leads projects, defines parameters, manages creative efforts and estimates budget costs
• Presents and promotes projects to clients, solving communications problems and providing innovative solutions as required
• Leads the management, conceptual development, design and production of graphic communications for the corporation and its businesses worldwide, directly working with high-level clients/management

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree with emphasis in graphic design or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years in marketing related production and design services in a client service capacity
• Ability to verbalize conceptual design and application of respective solutions; presents design ideas and mock-ups to clients
• Expert proficiency in graphic design, and print production, including Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Quark, Photoshop), Illustrator, Acrobat. Proficiency in Flash and Javascript a plus with an understanding of browser compatibility and HTML. Knowledge of MAC OSX and Windows operating systems a plus.
• Ability to bring in trends and innovation
• Expert proficiency in graphic design and print production with a great attention to details
• Power user of Adobe Creative Suite
• Strong knowledge of MS-Office PowerPoint and Word
• Able to work on Mac and Windows platforms
• Willing to step out of their comfort zone to meet client expectations.

Soft Skills:

• Accomplished problem solving skills are critical. The Art Director must have the ability to help clients define and solve their complex communications problems, including intricate implementation, logistical and production requirements, which are characteristic of a global organization.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary. The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and vendors impacts the success of business initiatives, the consistency of visual identity worldwide and effectiveness of communications programs.
