Art Director

0 people like this description

We’re on the hunt for an Art Director (mid- to senior Level) to join our growing in-house creative team. Here are a few must-haves:

Passion for design.
You’ve got an obsessive need to make everything you touch consistent, useful, and beautiful. In your head right now, you’re reworking that badly thought-out billboard and rethinking the imagery and flow of that new website you visited this morning.

Independent worker.
Since the company is growing, you will have to wear many hats and be disciplined enough to keep things moving. It’s almost impossible to say, “that’s not my job.” (They will probably won’t ever ask you to write copy or something unreasonable like that).

Strategic creative.
You know how projects work from start to finish. Your hunches are usually right. You trust your gut when something doesn’t feel right, and can back it up with a different idea.

Details are king.
There is a refinement to your work. A polish. An unrelenting eye for the little things that mean the difference between good and great. They are not out for perfection, but it doesn’t hurt to try.

THE USUAL ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

You’ll report to the Director of Content and, as Art Director, we’ll look to you to:

• Concept
• Lead projects from start to finish
• Review all design work and provide clear and constructive feedback for designers
• Mentor junior-level staff (including writers and project managers, not just designers)
• Explore and evaluate stylistic approaches using typography, imagery and color
• Image retouching
• Establish brand guidelines & enforce them
• Present work to Directors & Executive team
• Assist with recruiting and hiring of new team members
• Attend and art direct photo shoots
• Weigh in on Marketing strategy
• Balance multiple projects at once
• Prepare files for printing & attend press checks
• Choose paper types, packaging systems, and promotional materials
• Help select on-screen and voice talent for videos
• Attend and art direct video shoots

THE SLIGHTLY LESS TANGIBLE ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Bring an energy to the office
• Help us build a culture of excellence and fun
• Keep your cool, positive attitude, especially in high-pressure times
• Help us establish structure – ideas for processes, workflows — it’s all welcomed
• Bring unexpected ideas to the table, even if no one asked for them
• Push the team to work smarter and play harder

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON:

We work across all media. One day you might be working with the Sales team to concept a new welcome video, the next, working out the UI of an on-site activities app.
