Art Director

Our client, a suburban Philadelphia based healthcare communications firm, is looking for a freelance Art Director who can help them out on an "as needed" basis when projects come in! They also have the potential to hire a full time person, so if this works out you could be considered for full time. The role is onsite in their Doylestown, PA office and would start once they get some new projects in - this could be in 1 week or in 1 month.

The ideal candidate will have recent pharma experience (within the past few years) and should come from an agency background. Skills should include traditional print, interactive PDF, PowerPoint, and some understanding of web and app design. Infographic experience is a plus, especially if you've done the illustration work for it. Required Skills • Comfortable in both print and digital formats • Strong design expertise • Experience with layout and illustration software • Drawing acumen • Knowledge of production processes including print mechanicals and specifications • Familiarity with typestyles, type design and type specification • Computer retouching and image manipulation • Photo research capabilities • Art direction of stock and/or original photography Job Responsibilities • Conceptualize creative solutions that effectively communicate the strategic intent for tactics within the assigned product(s) • Take responsibility for and maintain high standards for concept, design, presentation, execution, and production of all assigned projects • Stay on top of digital technology trends and media channels, and have the vision to utilize them creatively for meeting marketing objectives • Create layouts through mechanical stage in accordance with existing branding guidelines• Develop branded and unbranded resources including brochures, factsheets, PowerPoint presentations, corporate sales brochures, web sites, apps, etc. • Manage projects within budgeted work scope and timelines • Follow established creative and workflow processes • Develop working rapport with account executives and copywriters to meet project and client objectives • Provide accurate time and cost estimates for projects Qualifications • Minimum 4-year degree in advertising, communication design or visual arts • Minimum 5 years’ design experience overall, with at least 3 years in pharmaceutical/health care • Must be proficient in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and PowerPoint • Must have good organization and communication skills • Experience in After Effects, electronic software, web design, and interactive design/HTML is a plus.
