Art Director

Our client, a leading digital advertising agency specializing in multi-channel advertising management and creative services, is looking for a talented Art Director for their downtown Austin, TX office. The Art Director will use creative and visual skills to concept cohesive, results-oriented advertising campaigns for specific audiences on Facebook, Pinterest, Google, Twitter, LinkedIn, and more. They will also execute on concepts, either individually or in collaboration with Digital Designers. The person in this position will work under the the direction of the Creative Team Lead to develop and execute concepts that are on brief and perform well in various advertising channels. The Art Director will be involved in all parts of the creative process and will be responsible for concepts, design, team collaboration, execution and culture.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of how a structured creative process leads to a creative strategy that informs concepts and subsequent art direction. The candidate will also use strong communication skills to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders throughout the creative process.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience with a strong foundation in art direction, concepting and design.

Concept responsibilities:
Collaborate with Creative Team Lead, Digital Designers and others to create on-strategy concepts based on the creative brief. This includes leading and participating in active brainstorming, concept editing, and other activities where creative is discussed.
Drive the look and feel of agreed upon concepts
Work with the Creative Team Lead to understand client business objectives and brand guidelines to own integration into all concepts and execution
Present concepts to internal team and gather feedback to be incorporated into final assets

Design responsibilities:
Use visual design principles, including but not limited to typography, color theory, layout, grids, perspective and space relationships, photography, iconography, and illustration when connecting and designing ads
Design or oversee the creation of deliverable assets that are on brief and visually motivating
Design or oversee the creation of comps, concept sketches, storyboards and presentations
Prepare comps/samples/assets for direction from creative lead and manage revisions based on feedback

Team collaboration responsibilities:
Partner with internal team members and external stakeholders from varied departments/disciplines on all aspects of the creative process to ensure all concepts and assets are on brief and meet objectives
Work constructively and respectfully in collaboration with all team members with an awareness of how people with varying roles and responsibilities work together to deliver the final product
Proactively involve people from other areas of expertise to improve creative outcomes as necessary
Execution responsibilities:
Proactively communicate with both the Creative Team Lead and Digital Designers to ensure project deliverables are on time and on brief
Own both own project deliverable deadlines and approvals, including those of junior Digital Designers
Prioritize and manage time with high-level direction from Creative Team Lead
Culture responsibilities:
Contribute to both creative team and overall agency culture by striving for excellence in all work
Give constructive and respectful feedback to teammates
Mentor junior Digital Designers on projects
