Art Director / Designer

Designers/Art Directors work in partnership with a Copywriter and establishes the conceptual direction, design and execution on large projects and marketing initiatives. He/she works in conjunction with Account Managers and Clients on strategic national advertising and marketing campaigns, B2C acquisition and communication collateral (both print and digital), and internal corporate communications.

Essential Responsibilities:
Manage and/or serve as a contributor on a variety of projects including but not limited to: executive leadership presentations, print and digital corporate image campaigns, national advertising campaigns (trade/consumer), new business development initiatives, consumer communications such as direct mail/email campaigns, internal corporate communications, corporate events, video, environmental design, and web initiatives such as website design, digital dashboards, mobile apps, and banner ads
Work in a collaborative environment with peers, colleagues, managers and clients
Manage assigned aspects of design work done by Art Directors, Copywriters, Designers, Digital Developers, Web Designers, Photographers, Printers and any additional outside vendors as they relate to a project
Provide creative thought leadership in the development of high-quality print well as environmental, experiential and digital design
Conduct creative wall reviews
Follow a creative brief and work with Account Managers to ensure assignment is clearly outlined and estimated
Understand strategic marketing initiatives and campaign strategies
Dig deeper if necessary to achieve clarity and ensure the creative team is aligned
Question client/marketing strategy when it doesn't align with market research or meet the needs of the consumer
Follow budgets, timelines and internal processes for each and every project
Look at the big picture
Present work internally among peers, colleagues, managers and clients
Present work to external clients and internal executive leadership
Work expeditiously on a high volume of projects with constantly changing deadlines
Make sure all objectives are being met and that there are no errors
Exercise good judgment and independent discretion regarding projects, initiatives and other company-related efforts
Manage assigned workflow while directing the work of others
Work with traffic and account managers on all project initiatives and help coordinate the flow of large projects with the creative team
Provide creative thinking during project kick-off meetings, brainstorming sessions and creative wall reviews
Influence and guide others with thought-provoking ideas and recommended solutions
Implement creative design best practices
Deliver the highest quality work possible
Offer new ideas for creative processes, creative team management and collaboration


Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree OR in lieu of degree a high school diploma and 12 years of work experience in visual design and management experience
professional advertising agency experience and/or work within an in-house creative team

In-depth knowledge of, and experience in creating and developing, brand identity

Outstanding communication and great people skills
Proficient in Creative Cloud (i.e. Adobe PhotoShop, Illustrator and InDesign)
Proficient Mac and PC skills
Knowledge of MS Office application (primarily, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Knowledge of HTML 5, CSS and ActionScript a plus but not required
