Application Support Analyst

40 hours per week
5 months (could be extended)

Excellent business analysis and problem solving skills to enable Analyst to resolve complex critical and non-critical production support application issues. Strong data analysis skills to enable Analyst to identify issue root cause and resolution. Previous experience in either or both Business and IT Helpdesks and procedures. Strong and clear communication skills, both written and verbal as the Analyst will frequently be working with a variety of business customers and IT teams (who may not always have English as a first language). Application Release Management experience, as Analysts will be required to coordinate monthly application release activity, agree release content and plan future release requirements with customers and other IT Teams. Previous experience in application bug fix testing is required. Analysts will be expected to perform testing to support monthly release activity and adhoc production support bug fixes. Analysts will be required to log and evidence test results to provide customers with assurance that the fix being applied with resolve their problems. Previous experience in either or both mainframe and client server application end user support is required as Analysts may be required to provide back up for colleagues during periods of absence. Previous experience in either or both mainframe and client server, query languages and tools is desirable. Analysts will be responsible for requesting and reviewing application data updates based on customer or production support requirements. Good time management skills as the Analyst will be required to manage their workload in line with customer priorities and production support issues. Strong working knowledge of MS office tools, particularly MS Excel, MS Access. Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet committed deadlines
Skills Preferred:
A working knowledge of Marketing and Sales Systems would be advantageous. Experience of ITIL/ITSM The VOPS portfolio covers apps from a wide technical perspective (COBOL/DB2legacy apps on the mainframe to client server apps developed in VB, ESSBASE and J2EE) so experience of supporting apps in these technologies is preferred.
