Animator/ Motion Designer I (Gaming)

At my client’s Game Studios, they believe that games have the power to connect communities at a massive scale. They are seeking the industry’s best to help them create, publish and support their ambitious PC games. You will work alongside talented industry veterans, including key contributors from dozens of top video game titles on the market.

They’re seeking a talented Animator as part of their Asset Creation team located in their Irvine-based game studio, to bring high quality video content to gaming customers everywhere. As an animator on this team, you will have the opportunity to work and help shape all of the external facing assets at one of the most customer centric companies on the planet, aspiring to build the next big thing in gaming.

You must possess a strong cinematic eye for conveying emotion, weight, and presence to characters in a 3D cinematic environment. Furthermore, this will require a solid understanding of pose-driven animation design, skill with 3D keyframe animation, a strong appreciation for all styles of animation, and the desire to learn and collaborate with the design and art teams to deliver great storytelling experiences.

In addition to the above, you will consistently demonstrates the ability to drive technical innovation in the character animation space through motion and design as well as being highly organized and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple projects under tight deadlines. Outstanding communication skills is also essential.


Within the first year, you will be expected to:

Be an integral part of the Team
Forge tight bounds with the studio art teams
Deliver multiple custom animations on-time and at quality
Generate posed renders and other assets for websites, magazines, etc.


Requirements:
A minimum of 3 years’ experience as an animator for games, television, or film.
Great understanding of storytelling, acting, body movement, facial expressions, and visual language
Strong understanding of both figure and facial anatomy
At least one game credit as an animator on a PC or Console title
Expert knowledge in Maya
Knowledge of game industry trends and animation advancements.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Art or in related field
Working Skills in other art-related Fields – Illustration, painting, technical art
Experience with Lumberyard
Exceptional communication skills, and a strong collaborative spirit
Appreciation of all art forms

Typical Work Day:
On-site work in the Irvine studio with standard hours of 9 – 6 or 10 – 7pm. Overtime is not planned, but may be used to meet a deadline.
