Advertising Proofreader

The proofreader will work directly with Creative Managers, Account Services, Copywriters, Designers, Production Artists and Print Production to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all proofreading projects.
Job responsibilities include proofreading materials for grammar, typography, composition and content, including ads, direct mail, print campaigns, stationery and digital for a variety of internal customers. Become proficient in branding and corporate standards by keeping up-to-date with formats, legalities and style guides. Responsible for making sure internal customer work follows approved style guide standards, registration and trademark usage and is legally compliant. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and have the ability to multi-task. The candidate must have flexibility in a rapidly changing environment and possess excellent organizational skills.
Candidate must have the ability to help project manage and prioritize work for lower level proofreaders from time-to-time
Work Experience: 5 to 8 years
Education: Bachelor Degree Writing, English or Arts
Experience in an Advertising and Marketing environment is recommended.

REQUIRED SKILLS: In order of importance, list specific skills or talents which a qualified incumbent should possess (i.e. computer literacy, subject knowledge, etc.)
1. Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and professionally, both verbally and written at all levels.
2. Experience with MAC applications such as Word and InDesign.
3. Performs proofreading tasks with a high degree of accuracy and an eye for consistency and detail.
4. Demonstrated ability to maintain information in strictest confidence.
5. Knowledge of industry standardized industry-wide proofreading symbols.
6. Sound judgment and the ability to make good editing decisions.
7. Proven ability to work independently and to effectively prioritize assignments.
8. Ability to provide editing and copywriting when requested.

ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Independent reasoning ability, advanced analytical skills and computer skills. Advanced communications skills, visual acuity at arm's length, the ability to support oneself in an erect position, standing or sitting. An ability to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word. The capacity to perform sedentary physical work using repetitive motions. An ability to hear with a low level of background noise. Specialized proficiency with minimal supervision. Leadership and supervision skills, capable of performing scheduling, control and planning and influencing skills. Requires an ability to deal with people, work precisely and possesses strong problem-solving skills.
