This government Agency seeks an experienced Administrative Assistant with a track record of successfully providing support to democracy or related programs. The position will serve as assistant to the Director of a Latin America Bureau.

All programs are managed from Washington. The Administrative Assistant will coordinate all day-to-day administrative and clerical support activities required to accomplish the work of the office. S/he will be an integral member of the Affairs Office team working within a unique closed society context.

As the first point of contact for the office with senior U.S. government officials, NGOs, multilaterals and other organizations as well as the general public, s/he will represent the office in a professional and client-oriented manner. The high-visibility and political priority associated with the Affairs Office places special responsibilities on all office personnel.

A. Work Experience:

Spanish language proficiency REQUIRED

Demonstrated experience in office management

Excellent skills in office systems, correspondence, etc.

B. Communications Skills:

4. Demonstrated English language proficiency (oral and written)

6. Demonstrated experience drafting correspondence, spreadsheets, other media

C. Organization Skills

1. Proficient in setting up office systems, including filing, correspondences, travel, leave management, etc.

2. Experience managing office Director schedules background information and sends to meeting participants; and prepares briefing books as needed.
