We are a leading professional services firm with a growing software engineering and product development team. We design and build things that are inspiring and make a real impact in the online testing industry. We are currently seeking a Lead UI/UX Designer to join our team in the Washington, DC office.
The Lead UI/UX Designer will be a part of the Creative Team, leading the effort to ensure the creation of engaging, positive user experiences and intuitive interfaces for high-profile online assessment systems. This individual will be responsible for establishing User Experience design standards, guidelines and strategies that serve as the foundation for creating cohesive experiences as well as designing impactful, usable and accessible web and mobile sites.

We are looking for a highly creative and passionate designer with proven ability to lead, inspire and organize a design team to deliver top-notch experiences. He/she will have a proven track record in user-centered design methodology and techniques. A candidate with strong communication and collaboration skills and experience working with all levels of management in obtaining consensus on project requirements and deliverables is a must.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with other designers, technical project managers, software engineers, and client project teams to understand and incorporate technical, business, and user requirements into usable designs for web and mobile
• Understand and work within project parameters: client goals and requirements, internal goals, usability, technical constraints, as well as within budget and schedule
• Support all aspects of design and production, focusing specifically on UI design
• Create innovative and appealing designs on a rapid and iterative basis, through sketches, storyboards, user task flows, wireframes, prototypes, and the production of final assets for specific features and projects
• Support all aspects of design and production with focus specifically on UI design and provide guidance on software accessibility concepts and constraints
• Cultivate an understanding of industry trends and share your insights with the whole team
• Be a user centric design advocate to lead UX discussions s on topics including visual design, interaction design, information architecture, and user research
• Manage multiple projects and ensure that all designs are interpreted and implemented as specified and meet all business requirements
• Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively. Distill complex interactions into clear, understandable design solutions and clearly rationalize your strategic thinking to stakeholders
• Bachelor's Degree in Human Factors, Interaction, Graphic or Interface Design/Master’s Degree a plus
• 4+ years of experience as an User Interface Designer, User Experience Designer, or similar role
• Online portfolio displaying a firm understanding of user-centered design processes and information architecture principles
• Experience developing user interfaces for complex online systems and mobile platforms with accessibility in mind
• Proven experience creating detailed wireframes, site outlines, process flows, and navigation models in a thorough, clean, and concise way using industry standard tools
• Fluency in best practices for mobile and web-based design, as well as strong knowledge of information architecture
• Stay current with latest design and technology trends across web and mobile platforms, and adopt modern techniques as appropriate
• Mastery of the Adobe Creative Suite
• Experience in prototyping tools
• Strong verbal and visual communication, written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and wireframe tools
