The graphic designer is responsible for the coordination, design and production of a diverse range of visual communications, including identities, brochures, booklets, fliers, posters, newsletters, invitations, microsites, HTML emails, online features and other presentation materials to meet the university’s communication needs.

The designer works on the branding/marketing materials for the Alumni Association, as well as university-wide and individual school/college projects with attention to cost-effective solutions and appropriate formats. This position is also responsible for assisting in layout, production and related duties.

Creativity, high-quality design, attention to detail and timeliness are required. This employee also assists in the preparation of publication plans and production schedules as well as explains the university’s visual identity program and the Office of Marketing and Communications’ policies and procedures to clients and other university colleagues.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education (include licenses, certifications, etc.):
Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and / or experience may be substituted for the degree.

Experience:
One year as a professional in the design field is required, 3+ years preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Organizational and planning skills.
Command of the English language in grammar and usage.

Specialized Skills:
Demonstrated skills in typography/layout/color/form/composition.

Knowledge of procedures, pricing and techniques applicable to concept development, exploration, execution and refinement of visual materials for print and other media.

Proficiency in Macintosh, Adobe Creative Suite and related software and hardware.

Familiarity with basic production for printing processes.

Preferences:
Illustration skills are a plus.

Additional Certifications:
Applicant is required to submit a portfolio that demonstrates skills and creativity in typography, layout, color, form and composition along with all application materials.
