Aquent has an EXCITING opportunity for a Product Designer in Toronto, ON!
This is a hyrbid role. It will be expected that you must able to work on-site 2 days/week at our client’s office. We will only consider candidates that live in or can commute to Toronto. Relocation is not allowed for this role.
In addition, to be considered for this role, you must:
- Be authorized to work in Canada.
- Not require sponsorship of any kind during the entire duration of the assignment
- Be able to showcase your work through cases studies and/or a online portfolio.

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
Our client’s Global Asset Management Team is seeking a talented Product Designer to join the team for a 12-month contract.
As a Product Designer on the team, you’ll play a critical role in delivering design solutions for digital products and marketing websites that inspire, engage and delight our users. Working in an agile environment and using iterative design thinking methods, you’ll work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, from idea to implementation, to meet both user and business needs.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaboration & Co-Design
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of product managers, engineers, researchers, strategists, and business
- Collaborate with design strategists to facilitate discovery sessions, map out journeys, and develop strategic design plans that will enable a seamless transition of ideas during the design process and boost business metrics
- Collaborate with design researchers to conduct interviews, usability testing, and other research to provide insights that will drive design decisions and positively improve client experiences.
- End-to-End Product Design & Direction
- Use a comprehensive understanding of interaction design theory, visual design theory, research data and best practices to inform design decisions
- Create concise end-to-end user experiences for complex problems using various UX techniques such as user flows, wireframes, high fidelity mockups, prototypes and/or documentation to effectively communicate and validate ideas.
- Spot new trends, implement fresh insight-driven experiences, and collaborate with stakeholders to shape our products’ experiential direction.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Experience:
- 5+ years in product design which should cover a deep understanding of design principles, user research methodologies and industry best practices.
- A human-centered, empathetic, humble, and willing to advocate for what’s best for client-first approach to work
- Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase
- Experience working within a large (financial) organization and within an agile environment
Strong Communication & Facilitation Skills:
- Be a strong communicator and advocate for the customer, the brand, and its impact.
- Be comfortable communicating and collaborating with key stakeholders.
- Be comfortable being involved and occasionally running design thinking facilitation sessions with cross-functional teams.
Problem Solving Skills:
- Deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high-quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excel in distilling complex design and experience challenges and providing solutions
Technical Proficiency:
- High Proficiency in design, prototyping, and collaboration tools: Figma, MURAL, Adobe Creative Suite, Confluence, JIRA etc.
- Mastery of visual design skills (i.e. grids, balance, color theory), excellent attention to detail, deep understanding of the principles of atomic design including symbols, layer styles, and variables, and experience working with and growing a design library.
Education:
- Undergraduate degree in Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience, or related Design field
Portfolio Requirements:
- Your portfolio should demonstrate shipment of products, sites and/or apps. The portfolio samples must show your design process (not just finished screens).
The target hiring compensation range for this role is C$ 54.37 to C$ 59.37/hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
