We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead UI/UX Designer to join our client’s team and spearhead the overhaul of their e-commerce consumer experience. In this role, you will be responsible for creating a more holistic feel to the site and bringing in UX best practices to deliver an exceptional user experience. Your primary focus will be on designing the UX/UI for the e-commerce redesign, as well as developing a design system that enables seamless updates to the site. This is a 6-month assignment initially, with the potential for extension based on additional work requirements.
What You’ll do:
- Conduct a thorough audit of our current e-commerce site to identify areas for improvement and gather insights.
- Bring in industry-leading UX best practices and collaborate with the project team to incorporate them into the design process.
- Create mockups and prototypes to visualize and communicate the new user experience.
- Design the UX/UI for the e-commerce redesign, considering elements such as templates, buttons, and overall design strategy.
- Understand the current team’s process and incorporate their updates into the design workflow.
- Share best practices for efficiency and stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in UI/UX design.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and articulate the vision and direction of the project.
- Ensure a human-centered design approach, taking into account user needs and preferences.
- Collaborate with team members to understand the reasoning behind design decisions and effectively communicate the “why” to stakeholders.
- Stay informed about new technologies and tools and evaluate their potential application to enhance the user experience.
- Introduce automation where applicable to streamline design and development processes.
- Take ownership of project management using tools such as Jira and Asana to track activities and collaborate with the development team.
What You’ll Bring:
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Confidence in expressing product ideas, thoughts, and directions, backed by factual evidence, metrics, and data.
- Familiarity with front-end design limitations and some knowledge of development, particularly within e-commerce retail platforms like Shopify.
- Proficient in requirement gathering, enabling stakeholders to articulate their vision and direction.
- Ability to analyze data from tools such as Google Analytics and Hotjar to gain insights for design improvements.
- Strong background in human-centered design, prioritizing user needs and preferences.
- Proactive in reaching out to team members to gather insights and understand the reasoning behind decisions.

- Awareness of new technologies and trends in UI/UX design and a willingness to bring innovative ideas to the table.

Portfolio Must-Haves:
- Demonstrated experience in the retail industry, preferably with a focus on e-commerce.
- Ideally, a portfolio showcasing the design of a complete storefront and a full shopping experience.
- Emphasis on mobile-responsive website design.
Equipment Required:
- Candidates are expected to use their own equipment and software for the duration of the assignment.

Required Qualifications
The target hiring compensation range for this role is the equivalent of $55.58 – $61.76 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location. Additional benefits offered may include; medical health insurance and dental insurance, life insurance, and eligibility to participate in 401k plan with company match.
