Job Description:

Do you have a strong record of preparing user research activities (including recruiting participants and/or working with the third-party vendors to recruit and to schedule user research study sessions, organizing research materials)? This User Experience team is looking for a research assistant to be a part of the team designing easy, simple, and efficient user interfaces that will play a role in bringing high-quality, affordable internet service to unserved and underserved communities around the word. You will be responsible for coordinating usability activities in the lab and supporting our User Research team with analyzing research results and preparing reports to communicate the findings to business, product and engineering teams. Your contributions will help ensure the user experience meets the needs and expectations of end users.

* Coordinate logistics and scheduling to prepare user researchers to conduct a variety of user experience studies: competitive reviews, focus groups, field studies, usability tests, surveys, cognitive walkthroughs, paired comparisons, structured interviews, contextual inquiry, task analysis, field studies, heuristic review, remote testing, and card sorting.
* Work with the recruiters to schedule participant sessions and appointments.
* Assist, as needed, with setting up the test environment, usability lab etc.
* Recruit and/or interview research participants upon request
* Find, curate and maintain a directory of prospective vendors and third-party software tools that could help expedite research and testing.
* Work with staff to document best practices for conducting user research
* Collect materials and supplies needed for testing.
* Conduct literature reviews
* Prepare research materials for submission to legal reviews
* Prepare research materials for workshops and request equipment or supplies necessary for research projects and workshops
* Observe user research sessions, taking notes for analysis.
* Collect and consolidate research data; work with researchers and designers to analyze results so that findings can be used to improve wire frames and mockups prior to development to promote a positive consumer experience.
* Assistance in creating reports (including creating graphs, highlight videos, slide decks etc.)
* Manage and respond to email and direct messages (Slack, Asana, Figma, etc.) related to research projects
* Prepare research task progress reports and meeting minutes

Job Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree in a scientific discipline in Human Factors, Psychology, HCI/ Computer Science, or other field emphasizing human behavior; or in lieu or degree, some related work experience
* Minimum of 1-2 years experience conducting research on human participants and conducting formal usability studies.
* Demonstrated history of conducting usability studies and user research, including contextual inquiry, screening questions, plans, and reports.
* Detail oriented and able to take on self-directed projects
* Communicate complex subject matter verbally or in written form.
• Detail-oriented and ability to work fairly independently on a variety of tasks Interest in general research and user research methods
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Can prioritize time between multiple projects, and be flexible by adapting to changing schedules and different projects
• Highly motivated learner
• Experience coordinating and maintaining schedules across multiple teams managing shared resources and coordinating with a legal team

The target hiring compensation range for this role is the equivalent of $38.28 to $42.54 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
