APLA Consumer Assortment Planning Manager – Kids Apparel

 

The nature of the work is focused on the effective and efficient distribution of products and services to customers. Utilize advanced forecasting and analysis techniques to anticipate consumer demand and market trends. Develop detailed product demand plans for assigned category that result in high forecast accuracy, thereby contributing to customer profitability. Provide technical expertise and mentoring within demand planning function. Develops, integrates and provides short-term accounts or brand specific forecasts for internal operations which include replenishment data, customer data, sales promotion information, marketing plans and new distribution/product deletions. Use statistical analysis and data-driven decision making tools for the validation of initial seasonal product by category. Support with documentation, timely communication and technical consulting. Use expertise to employ statistical techniques, business targets, causal factors, external market and sell-through analysis, that result in highly accurate global forecasts. Achieve a high degree of professional expertise in leading edge, sophisticated decision making tools and advance forecasting within  from a qualitative to a more quantitative / statistical process.

Skills:

Experience in a forecasting or buying capacity. Project management experience preferred. Typical Office: This is a typical office job, with no special physical requirements or unusual work environment.

 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

This role establishes and executes consumer driven retail sales, inventory plans and assortment architecture to achieve key performance indicators across the APLA (Asia-Pacific/Latin America) business unit.  This person will lead cross-functional partners, to execute DSM (demand and supply management) and Consumer Assortment Planning strategy.  The individual needs to possess strong analytical skills, a collaborative mindset, a self-starter attitude, and excellent communication skills.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON:

If this is you, you’ll be on the APLA DSM (demand and supply management) Consumer Planning team, working hand in hand with the APLA cross-functional Kids Consumer Team, while also having a strong partnership with the APLA Marketplace Planning Team. Your key accountabilities will be to develop long range retail sales and demand plans to inform Kids Consumer assortment seasonal investment.  Timeline will be focused on pre-season through in-season (breadth & depth) to guide and inform Merchandising Assortment and manufacturing decisions, while being mindful of flow to marketplace.  In addition, you will participate in a team structure that facilitates and improves individual and team performance, supporting and encouraging an open and inclusive environment that embraces diversity, encourages accountability, and drives toward results.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH:

In this role, you will support key business initiatives and goals through DSM. You will be sitting in the APLA DSM function, on the Consumer Planning team, reporting to the Kids Assortment Planning Manager.

In order to achieve success, strong cross functional partnerships will be required with: the APLA Marketplace Planning team, APLA Kids Consumer team (Merchandising, Finance, Marketplace, Brand Marketing, Insights & Analytics), Global Kids Consumer Planning team, Supply and Inventory, and Territory Planning teams.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related subject area
  • 8 years' retail experience in merchandise planning, merchandising, allocations or operations
  • 2 additional years' experience is generally accepted in lieu of degree
  • Strong and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and influence others; ability to effectively communicate sophisticated and/or sensitive topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience; experience working with highly-diverse international team preferred
  • Experience in retail sales planning and demand planning preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of retail math; ability to interpret financial sales data to make decisions and recommendations that inform and positively impact the business
  • Experience in developing an understanding of customers, competitors and retail trends; knowledge of sports apparel and footwear market preferred
  • Experience working across multiple business platforms, including owned website/apps and partner businesses
  • Familiarity with merchandise and forecasting management systems
  • PC literate with solid understanding of Excel functions and pivot tables and formulas
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with management and external resources
