Job Description:

Our Architectural Firm client is seeking a hybrid, LA- based mid-level Environmental Graphic Designer to join their team!  You will work in a collaborative, fun, team-oriented atmosphere to create holistic experiences through experiential graphics and wayfinding & signage. You will also be part of all phases of the architectural project from programming, conceptual design, design development, and documenting through implementation.

Main work location in-office (Los Angeles) twice per week, preferably Tuesday/Thursday, WFH other days

Must Haves:

  • Very strong graphic design experience– colors, topography, composition

  • Spatial experience in scale – scale and spatial experience. 2D – 3D experience

  • BFA in graphic design or similar

  • 3-7 years of relevant professional experience

  • Expertise in graphic tools, including Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) as well as PowerPoint

  • Strong experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop specifically)

  • Working knowledge of CAD Tools

  • Familiarity with applicable codes, including ADA

  • Understanding of architectural scales and drawings – able to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings.

  • Desire and ability to travel if needed

Nice-to-haves:

  • Working knowledge of database programs Axomic OpenAsset is a plus

  • Background in the architectural field or environmental design is a plus

  • Knowledge in 3D rendering skills in Sketch-up or similar 

Job duties will encompass different areas, such as…

General:

  • Responsible for the planning, management, and delivery of projects from concept through completion

  • Lead and manage design projects for marketing collateral, corporate identity systems, print and digital media, environmental graphics programs and consumer experience environments

  • Collaborative designer that works well in an interdisciplinary, fast-paced environment, as well as ability to work autonomously.

  • Understands branding concepts and their integration in the built environment

  • Strong skills in typography, composition and layout, proportion, color, and wayfinding and information design

  • Contributes to ideation and creative problem solving during internal brainstorming sessions

  • Maintains open communication within team and senior designers

  • Coordinates with architects and other external design team members to meet project requirements and deadlines.

  • Working knowledge of sign and environmental graphics production materials and methods

  • Takes increasing ownership on tasks within project teams and studio activities.

Schematic Design:

  • Generates multiple initial concepts based on research and analysis, and a strong understanding of the client’s needs and objectives.

  • Effectively communicates design concepts, both verbally and visually, through sketching, 2D illustration, and 3D visualization

  • Supports the preparation of client presentation materials

  • Drafts meeting notes for distribution and keep track of client feedback

Design Development:

  • Interpret client requirements to creatively design customized work and graphics

  • Develops and documents design to include scaled, dimensioned drawings with specific material selections

  • Coordinates effectively with internal architecture and interior teams to gather necessary assets

  • Develops plan diagrams and elevations

Design Intent package:

  • Supports transition of design documents into a detailed set, including technical details, specifications, and message schedules

Construction Administration:

  • Creates production ready artwork

  • Coordinates with vendors and General Contractors for samples and mockups

  • Assists the Senior Designer in managing the fabrication and installation phases
