Overall Responsibilities:
As UX Writer for this company, you'll join a global design team that stretches across TOK, SYD, NYC, SEA, ZUR, and the Bay Area.
In this role, you'll provide UX Writing for UGC, also known as User Generated Content, the platform by which users share their experiences in the world on this platform: their photos, reviews, edits, ratings, lists, and more. UGC comprises a passionate community of contributors, and it plays a critical role in helping the platform reflect the world, as it changes. As part of this work, you'll shape the voice and the tone of the UGC community, its design systems, and user experiences. You'll partner with product and design teams in Tokyo and Sydney to evolve UGC so it resonates with our youngest users. You'll also balance key considerations around privacy, trust, and transparency.

This is a language- and content-rich role. If you like writing for people-powered experiences and tackling tough, interesting problems, this role may be for you.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Write clear, concise user-interface text for products.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (a ‘go-to’) for user experience writing.
  • Drive clear and consistent product language and content across a given domain.
  • Collaborate with XFN partners from inception through execution to define writing, content, product strategy, and design requirements.
  • Develop concepts for early stage products.
  • Provide data-informed insights to improve existing experiences.
  • Guide context for translations and collaborate with linguists and local stakeholders to ensure local sensitivity and understanding.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

  1. UI writing
  2. Application of UXW patterns and guidelines, company design standards, and UXR insights
  3. Collaborate with XFN partners

Mandatory Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Technical Writing, UX, HCI, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience, including partnering with Eng, Product, UX and other cross-functional teams to build products.
  • Proven ability to independently drive content projects forward with minimal guidance.
  • Experience in user-focused product writing, including work in hardware, software, digital agencies, or other relevant settings.
  • Experience in shaping content for multi-disciplinary projects.
  • A portfolio of UX-focused writing samples and style guidelines.

Non-Essential Skills/Qualifications:

  • 7 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience developing information architecture for complex documentation sets or product suites.
  • Experience with localization and accessibility best practices.
  • Knowledge of online technology and related products, including web and mobile UI and tools.
  • Familiarity with user experience research principles and practices and how to use data to provide informed user insights.
