Our client has a team that forecasts and confronts emerging threats, conducting pioneering research and demonstrating the power of emerging technology to keep our world safer. Our clients research and experiments have helped keep the company one step ahead of critical issues, and we partner with teams throughout the company to integrate insights into core products. Our model centers around collaboration with both external and internal partners—including 20+internal teams—to build and scale our research, technology, and programs. Among our current focus areas are disinformation, online toxicity and harassment, violent extremism, and free expression.

We are looking for a design leader who can establish a daring and different yet sophisticated and expert brand in the tech space. A creative with vision who can bring the best of the clients brand to life through every physical and digital interaction with our external audiences.The discipline is focused on design for communication (brand, print, editorial, social and visual storytelling) that also collaborates closely with the brand marketing, communications, strategy, product and UX teams. The design lead for the marketing & communications team will activate and evolve the brand system in a holistic and consistent way as we go to market, enhancing and evolving our brand identity as we go. Experience building brands, leading engineering-heavy engagements, tying design work to business impact, directing the creative process for teams and agencies, and working with other creatives collaboratively will be essential.

Areas we expect you to make an impact:

  • Manage and direct different creative partners, agencies and vendors from brief to delivery and execution 
  • Evolve our brand system by building on existing directions or creating new directions from scratch 
  • Collaborate with other designers in UX and product org to ensure a holistic brand feel across all touchpoints
  •  Drive collaboration with cross functional teams to execute the company’s launch roadmap
  •  Create multi-media narratives that tell engaging, sometimes technical stories of a team, project, or deliverable
  • Lead the design of our website, blog, social accounts and online channels, working with marketing & comms
  • Developing physical, print and digital experiences (e.g. exhibiting at a tradeshow) from brief to production


What you should have:

  • 4-year degree in a design discipline or related field
  •  Demonstrable proficiency with contemporary design and prototyping tools and methods (Figma, Blender, Adobe Suite, AutoCad)
  •  Exceptional interaction, visual, problem-solving, and storytelling abilities combined with excellent communication and presentations skills 
  • Highly developed design skills, demonstrated in your portfolio of recent work (direct contributions outlined)
  •  Experience leading substantial design projects in a startup-like environment


What we hope you have :

  •  A university degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related design or artistic discipline
  •  Experience doing animation, illustration and data visualization work for technical concepts
  •  Ability to effectively communicate and articulate concepts, influencing stakeholders and partners at all levels
