Job Description:

Aquent Studios is adding to our growing team with Colgate Palmolive!  This role is hybrid and this person will be required to work on-site two days a week in their New York city office.

Reporting to the Director of Creative Services, the Creative Manager has overall responsibility for
the quality of work produced by the creative department, inclusive of Art Directors, Designers, Copy/Editors, Production, etc... for their respective category. They are involved in highly complex projects, providing input on and directing the creative strategy. In addition, they will also drive creative innovation through experience design and other design methodologies, lead discovery meetings/projects, oversee profitability and creative deliverables (includes talent/resource spend management), review work, troubleshoot and provide feedback to creative teams, and ensure visual communication and brand standards are met. They can identify the capabilities and skill sets on the design core and flex teams and are able to make recommendations on resourcing based on project needs. Additionally, they will have broad digital experience and extensive knowledge of their category trends and insights and will use that to develop and mentor their team, ultimately leading to successful delivery of projects and client objectives.


Creative, Operations, and Leadership
● Effectively manage Tier 1 / highly complex creative projects from conceptualization to completion
● Maintain accountability for overall quality of creative work, including brand standards and brand equity consistencies, assisting with art direction, when needed.
● Lead and direct creative staff in the production of all project work
● Prioritize and manage workflow to ensure workload level matches allocated creative resources
● Manage resources, including effective utilization of core and flex team, as well as outside agencies/vendors, with timely identification of need for additional capacity or specialized skills
● Act as a change agent from both an internal and external perspective, positively contributing to both client and Aquent performance
● Partner with management and client to understand business and marketing strategy and translate it into creative direction, when necessary
● Manage current and build new relationships with key stakeholders, participating in planning process for key initiatives
● Understand clients’ strategies/objectives and end users’ objectives. Develop and present well-organized concepts to meet those objectives
● Act as a point of escalation, ultimately responsible for problem solving and resolution for respective category
● Participate in high level meetings/calls with clients, including new project proposals, discoveries and QBRs
● Meet with and update the Director of Creative Services on a weekly basis


Responsibilities
Strategic Tier 1 projects

● Work closely with Project Manager on project intake to provide creative direction, including reviewing creative brief and time allocation for estimating purposes
● Partner with (GD&P) Design Manager on creative brief and execution deliverables, including concept driven and production design (line extensions/adaptations)
● Review and approve estimate and timeline from PM prior to sharing with client
● Manage project budgets effectively against projects
● Brief designers on project request and creative work and provide design solutions, as needed
● Review designers work and provide direction and feedback, offer art direction on sketches, concepts and final digital layouts
● Present design concepts to Design Team - explaining strategy, rationale and thought process of the team when designing
● Schedule reviews of design intent with DIM, discussing design proofs for color approval and graphic integrity
● Oversee project release to DIM and Production, being informed by Art Director
● Hand off to Art Director, the review with AW manager, discussing design intent proofs for color approval and graphic integrity
● Take part in weekly status meetings to address current project needs/issues and review forecasting
● Review master project tracker to ensure all work is reflected and statuses are accurate. Provide input and feedback when necessary
● Align with Design Manager, and PM as needed, to monitor multiple project timelines and critical deadlines
● Partner cross-functionally, working with artwork manager, separators and Brand Experience team to align all aspects of the project as a whole
● Communicate appropriate concerns regarding potential design and brand challenges
● Inform and follow-up with all involved parties on design execution and brand identity
● Stay in contact with Design Team through in-person, calls and emails - accessibility is key
● Partner with PM to review monthly billing for respective projects and provide approval prior to invoicing

 

Requirements:

● Minimum of 8+ years of Design Management, Creative Director level preferred
● Expertise in Packaging Design and Branding with packaging production knowledge
● Strong background in Digital technologies, execution, and requirements
● Familiar with Experience design strategy and design methodologies
● Understanding of UX/UI disciplines
● Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience - a Design or Art School preferred.
● Demonstrate strong visual, written, and oral communication skills
● Up to 25% hands-on design work
● Experience with cross-platform (Google/Adobe Suite, Mac-based plus Microsoft Suite) software
application and document management experience
● Consumer Packaged Goods industry experience preferred but not necessary
● Broad understanding of environmentally responsible design and packaging
● Highly organized and detail oriented, works with minimal supervision
● Manages tasks and deadlines with flexibility
● Must be able to present concepts and design elements clearly, directly, and professionally
