*Candidates semi-local to Chicago-land preferred. Remote work is fine but some of the team does work in the office a few days per week. Open to fully remote for the right candidate.*

Aquent's established yet innovative client is looking for a UI/UX Designer / Information Architect to work downtown/Loop.  This role is an up-to 24 month contract position with the possibility of converting to full time (no guarantees).

Ideal candidate will have worked for larger companies and larger teams. Has thoughtful and communicative interpersonal skills, strong UI and Native APP design experience.  This is a UX oriented role primarily focused on MOBILE APP, although there will be opportunities work on both App and Web.  Retail and Omnichannel experience preferred. 


You will provide UX / UI design services. - Collaborate with product development stakeholders (e.g., product and technical managers, graphic designers, technical writers, developers, and end-users) to deliver new products and enhancements.  This contractor will augment team’s current capacity, to support roadmap work primarily in the Retail space. This is truly an omnichannel design opportunity since most transactions that start online end up on store This contractor will work alongside other UX/UI designers and copywriters on team and partner closely with business owners, product owners, business analysts and developers when crafting innovative design solutions. Collaboration is a huge part of this role.


• At least 2 years of solid, hands on design experience

• A portfolio that contains real design work that has been put into production

• A portfolio that contains interactive prototypes (or links to prototypes)

• Strong presentation and communication skills

• A formal design education or a minimum of 5 years proven design experience

• A strong online portfolio containing multiple examples that are presented with depth

• A portfolio that contains interactive prototypes (or links to prototypes)

• Enthusiasm and a Curiosity for solving problems

• Familiarity with iOS and Android standards

• Experience working for larger companies / with larger teams is a plus

DISQAULFICATIONS: Contractors will not be considered for the following reasons:

• MUST HAVE a formal design education instead of attended a UX/Design bootcamp such as General Assembly. Flatiron, etc. (Candidates will be considered if they went to bootcamp but have at least 2 years of related experience.)

• An online portfolio is not included with initial submission

• Portfolio is primarily student work /case studies / concept only work

• Portfolio contains single screen shots of projects without showcasing depth of thinking

• The UX of the portfolio itself is difficult to follow / digest WHY

• Must be able to work in the US for 24 months without any Visa issues
