Job Description:

We're looking for a Digital Pre Press Operator for one of our clients based in NYC. 

  • Must be able to work onsite at clients Manhattan, NY office
  • Term: 30+ days
  • 30-40 hours per week

As a production operator, you will utilize your knowledge of reprographics, production methods and equipment (color and black and white copiers, binding, folding, cutting equipment and other reprographic machines). You’ll provide recommendations on digital print production and options to staff and clients on a project-by-project basis. You’ll manage production projects, evaluate quality of printing and copying and be responsible for digital prepress. You’ll maintain computer knowledge of basic applications and superior knowledge in copier-specific software applications to print files from Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, InDesign and Acrobat.

You can expect to complete various project deliverables utilizing black and white and color digital photocopy machines, including setup, quality control and cleanup. You’ll act as a project manager, review project instructions, communicate and negotiate project deadlines, project scope, and cost estimates, record time and materials cost in our job tracking database and perform electronic file management and archiving of digital files.

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • 2-plus years of experience in digital prepress / print production environment - printing from electronic files to various digital print devices
  • Advanced knowledge of Xerox black/white and color copier equipment - Xerox D110, V2100 and V80 devices
  • Experience with daily color calibrations and routine operator maintenance on reproduction equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems with all machinery, including paper jams and ink flow problems; works effectively with copier maintenance vendors
  • Strong finishing skills with proficiency in operating finishing equipment (3-hole drill, bindery, laminating, folder, cutter, stapler, etc.)
  • Experience with production process including file setup, quality control and cleanup
  • Some knowledge of basic computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Acrobat) for adjustments for printing color and black and white deliverables
  • Steady hand skills for assembly of various deliverables
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, customer service and teamwork skills is key
  • Speed and accuracy are crucial to this position
  • Project management and problem-solving skills
