Job Description:

Project Overview:

 We’re exploring ways to improve the information available around public and environmental health. Our public health tools are used by government experts and the general public on topics ranging from COVID-19, to sustainability, climate resilience and city planning. 

As a UX Research Associate, you will work closely with research, design, and product management to plan, execute and synthesize the results of quantitative and qualitative studies on public and environmental health topics. Research results will be incorporated into product designs, ultimately improving the health and resilience of diverse communities.

Overall Responsibilities:

This role focuses on planning and conducting remote and in-person studies including literature reviews, concept studies, and usability sessions (in-person and remote participants). You will also assist other researchers with data analysis, reporting, and project logistics. 

We are looking for individuals who have excellent research and communication skills, are diligent and detail-oriented, and can work independently on well-scoped projects.

Top 4 Daily Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct remote formative studies (literature reviews, concept testing, etc.), with support
  • Plan and conduct in-person or remote usability studies, with support
  • Analyze study findings, create detailed reports, and present to stakeholders
  • Assist senior researchers on larger projects (via recruitment, data analysis, note-taking, etc)

Skill/Experience/Education

Mandatory

  • B.A./B.S. (completed) in Human Factors, Social Sciences, HCI, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, Computer Science, Product Design, or other related field emphasizing human behavior
  • 1-2 years of experience **willing to consider academic experience if aligned with research experience listed**;
  • Experience planning, conducting, analyzing, and delivering detailed written reports of user experience evaluations
  •  Demonstrated ability to draw recommendations from research insight
  • Able to contribute to multiple projects at the same time
  • Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  •  Detail-oriented with a demonstrated ability to work with minimal support on a variety of research tasks

Desired

  • M.A/M.S./Ph.D. (completed) in Human Factors, Social Sciences, HCI, Cognitive Science, Experimental Psychology, Computer Science, Product Design, or other field emphasizing human behavior
  • or in lieu of degree, some related work experience.;
  • 1-2 years of experience as a researcher in applied industry *willing to consider academic experience if aligned with research experience listed*;
  • Familiarity with digital prototyping in research
