Job Description:
We are looking for an onsite Digitization Collections Specialist to scan roughly 1500 35mm slides. They will need to have the skills to perform tasks like preparing and cleaning slides/negatives, scanning said slides/negatives, performing some light digital editing of the images, and uploading them into a digital asset database. Additionally, they will need to be able to set up, use, and maintain the scanner, which is a Slidesnap scanner. Estimated project duration is 3 months with the possibility to extend to 6 months.
Responsibilities:
- Inspect and clean materials prior to scanning
- Prepare and scan 35mm slides and negatives using a SlideSnap scanner
- Perform digital editing, organizing and metadata tagging of said scans
- Assist Archive Team with physical move of archive, driving in-person coordination and logistics
- Other archival digitization projects as needed (i.e. special projects, deep dives, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling and digitizing 35mm slides and negatives
- Familiarity with Slidesnap scanners is a plus
- Proficiency in AdobePhotoshop and the Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience with DSLR cameras
- Knowledge of Digital Asset Management systems and workflows
- Ability to work independently with a great attention to detail
